Having seen the many harms caused by non-human spirits and the diseases arising from the imbalance of the elements, with a mind of benefiting them and filled with compassion, I pray that these spirits and diseases may be pacified. By the power of truth from having made such prayers, these spirits and diseases will surely be pacified. However, one should understand that the bodhisattva who, upon the pacification of spirits and diseases, has no arrogance arising from clinging to truth and no pride, is destined to be irreversible and will receive a prophecy. If a bodhisattva, because of the various accomplishments and wealth such as the pacification of diseases that are achieved and come about through the power of truth from my prayers, thinks, "I have been prophesied by the Buddha to be irreversible," and thus develops arrogance arising from clinging to truth, or if they disparage the prophecies of other bodhisattvas, they should not have such arrogance. One should know that those who dwell in such arrogance are of small mind and low intelligence. Starting from the basis of mentioning one's own and others' names, the demon will draw near and say, "This name was your name in the past, and this is the name of your father, mother, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, grandson, and so on, among the seven generations. The name of the Buddha when you become a Buddha in the future is this. Now and in the future, what kind of learning, discipline, and yoga will you possess? Your qualities in past lives were also similar to this." Having heard these words, if a bodhisattva develops pride based on names and arrogance arising from clinging to truth, then that bodhisattva's mind has been completely influenced by the demon's blessings, and they should be known as being of small mind or low intelligence. One should diligently rely on villages, cities, mountain valleys, nomadic monasteries, and forests devoid of people, where trees and the like are extremely scarce, and dwell alone. If a bodhisattva praises themselves and disparages others by saying, "I dwell alone, but other bodhisattvas do not dwell alone," then that bodhisattva should be known as being completely influenced by the demon and of small mind. So, how does one dwell in order to be considered dwelling alone? One should always dwell in villages, towns, and cities, dedicating oneself to maturing sentient beings and

If one does not strive to attain enlightenment, but instead clings to the vehicle of the Hearers and Solitary Realizers, the Arhats, then one will never generate (Bodhicitta). This is said to be the solitude of the Bodhisattva, the son of the Sugata. The supreme aspect of the inner solitude of a Bodhisattva is to abandon the thought of seeking one's own benefit, and to abandon the thought of desiring the enlightenment of Hearers and Solitary Realizers. Some Bodhisattvas, even if their outer body dwells alone for many eons in a mountain cave of a great mountain five hundred yojanas in circumference, a mountain filled with snakes. However, if they do not understand this solitude of the inner mind being separated from the thoughts of Hearers and Solitary Realizers, then these Bodhisattvas, merely by dwelling in solitude in body, will gain excessive pride, and their minds will be mixed with the thoughts of Hearers and Solitary Realizers. That is not dwelling in the solitude of a Bodhisattva, but dwelling in a state of mixture. They will arrogantly say: 'I dwell in solitude, while those Bodhisattvas who strive for the benefit of beings, those who have attained samadhi of meditation, the five powers, the five faculties, and the eight liberations, those who dwell in cities.' If they despise and slander these Bodhisattvas, then these people dwell in the realm of demons, as the Victorious Ones have said. Therefore, whether a Bodhisattva dwells in a city or in solitude, as long as they are free from the mind of seeking the vehicle of Hearers and Solitary Realizers, and focus their mind single-pointedly on the supreme enlightenment of the Buddha, this is the supreme inner solitude of those Bodhisattvas who have entered into benefiting others. If some Bodhisattvas do not have this solitude, and merely dwell in mountain caves, thinking they are something special, they are harming themselves. Therefore, for those wise individuals who have a strong desire to seek the supreme enlightenment of the Buddha, they must destroy their pride. Just as a group of patients relies on a doctor to cure their illnesses, Bodhisattvas should also rely without懈怠 on those virtuous friends who teach the Prajnaparamita. One should rely on the Buddha Bhagavan and the Bodhisattvas who have entered into supreme enlightenment, as well as the six Paramitas, as virtuous friends. Because one can truly explain these six Paramitas, this is the place or ground for practice. Thus.
