Regarding the practice of purifying the Buddha-field, it is explained by one verse, such as "the path of the solitary place in the world." The Bodhisattva, in the world, sees the deserted solitary places far from villages, as well as the many faults such as famine and various diseases, but is not afraid of them. Because of such circumstances, I will practice such faults of vessel and essence, and for the benefit of all sentient beings, I vow to accomplish the completely pure Buddha-field. Thus, putting on the strong armor to benefit all sentient beings, without abandoning the sentient beings of the impure realm, until the end of the future, constantly striving to benefit sentient beings, skillfully using means, and not generating even a dust of the mind to enjoy sentient beings. This is explained in the Ornament of Clear Realization as "Sentient beings are like that in the world." Next, regarding the practice of skillful means, it is explained from "Bodhisattva acts in the wisdom of the Victorious Ones" to the end of the fourth chapter. These three practices have many sutra texts in the Three Mothers, and the practice of skillful means is also slightly detailed here. That is, the Bodhisattva acts in the wisdom of the Buddhas, knowing that these aggregates such as form are empty by nature from the beginning, without birth or cessation. However, great compassion arises in the realm of sentient beings who have not settled in this meaning, and during the period of the action of great compassion, one does not degenerate from one's own Dharma of the Buddha. For example, a wise man who is endowed with all virtues, is powerful, cannot be defeated by others, is diligent, knows all the arts of the world, is proficient in the art of archery, is proficient in many places of craftsmanship, is good at illusion, and wants to benefit beings. That person gathers his parents, wife, and children, and goes to the path of a secluded solitary place where there are many enemies. In order to protect those enemies, that person conjures up many brave and fearless men holding weapons. After letting his parents and others leave safely,

Just as one comes home to be at ease, similarly, when practicing this Prajnaparamita, the skilled Bodhisattva also generates great compassion in all realms of sentient beings and with the power of great love, completely transcends the four maras, including the son of the gods, and also the two of Hearers and Solitary Realizers. Abiding in the Samadhi of the three doors of liberation, they do not constantly recognize and abide in the realm of peaceful Nirvana of Enlightenment out of season. Furthermore, in the sky, the circle of wind relies and forms. Upon that, the mass of the water circle relies, and upon that, this great earth circle relies. Upon that, these beings of the four continents rely and abide, and the cause of sentient beings engaging in karma is similar to that example. Although the similarity is not obvious here, from another perspective, the Dharma-nature of the mind is like the sky, inappropriate attention is like the wind, karma and afflictions are like water, and the arising of aggregates, realms, and sources is like the earth. From this, the term "realm of sentient beings" arises and is connected. Furthermore, although the root of the arising of phenomena is the sky, the sky does not rely on any basis to abide. Please contemplate the meaning of this example. Just like that example, the Bodhisattva who abides and dwells in the door of liberation of emptiness, which is like the sky, with the support of the aspiration to know the faculties and thoughts of sentient beings, performs various kinds of deeds and does not touch the realm of peaceful Nirvana with compassion. They do not constantly abide in emptiness without benefiting others. Whenever a skilled and intelligent Bodhisattva practices this excellent Samadhi of peace, the door of liberation of emptiness, during that time, they do not intensely meditate on the characteristics of clinging to true existence. Instead, they abide in the absence of characteristics and practice with great peace the result of aspiration—peace itself. For example, a bird flying in the space realm does not abide in that space. It neither abides in the space nor falls to the ground. Similarly, the Bodhisattva, abiding and practicing the door of liberation with the union of skillful means and wisdom, does not untimely enter the realm of peace.
