It is like this. Although the Buddhas liberate sentient beings from suffering and the three lower realms by relying on the explanation of this, those Buddhas will never generate a true perception of sentient beings. How is this shown? For example, a lion dwells fearlessly in one corner of a great mountain, causing many small, weak animals to be frightened and roar. Similarly, the Buddhas, lions among humans, dwell relying on Prajnaparamita, causing many non-Buddhists who cling to self to be frightened, and also proclaim the great sound of true emptiness to the world. This is explained in the Ornament, with "Having the characteristics of emptiness, and..." etc. The third is the wisdom activity of the Buddhas, which is shown by "For example, dwelling in the sky..." etc. For example, the rays of the sun dwelling in the sky dry up the moisture of this earth, and also clearly reveal the forms. Similarly, the Dharma King Buddha also relies on this Prajnaparamita, teaching the Dharma of emptiness, thereby drying up the river of existence, that is, the ocean of samsara, and also greatly reveals the Dharma. How does one teach after seeing the nature of Dharma? When analyzing with the correct intellect that analyzes the ultimate meaning, and in the nature of Samadhi that is single-pointedly focused on the ultimate meaning, forms are not seen and do not exist. Similarly, feelings, perceptions, formations, consciousness, mind, and intellect are not seen. Thus, when the appearance of conventionality is not seen, seeing emptiness is what the Tathagata taught as seeing the emptiness of the ultimate Dharma. Its example is that sentient beings express with words "seeing the sky" in the world, but how is the way of seeing the sky established? When seeing an object without obscuration or obstruction, it is established as seeing, please contemplate and understand this reason carefully. Just like that, when the truly established to be refuted and the elaborations of conventionality are not seen, seeing the emptiness of the ultimate Dharma is also taught by the Tathagata. One should understand it as explained in the example of seeing emptiness, and one cannot understand and express it in the way of seeing Dharma in other examples.

It is not so. Any Bodhisattva who sees in this way will fully see the Dharma-nature of all Dharmas. This is explained in the Ornament, from "showing suchness" and so on. They have shown the sixteen characteristics of knowledge in three sets. The second set is the sixteen special characteristics, which are explained from "the king dwells in equanimity" and so on. For example, just as the king dwells in equanimity and the ministers perform all the tasks, all the deeds of the Buddhas and the teachings of the Hearers are accomplished by the Prajnaparamita. Again, just as the king does not go to towns, cities, and villages, but collects all the grain and other taxes from the people of the land under his rule, so too, the Dharma-nature of the Bodhisattva does not go anywhere, yet it gathers all the qualities of the self-path and the Buddha-ground. Furthermore, any Bodhisattva who has firm faith in the Sugatas and supreme Bodhisattvas, and who abides in the practice of thinking and meditating on this supreme Prajnaparamita, will far surpass the two grounds of Hearers and Solitary Buddhas, and will quickly attain the Victorious Bodhi that cannot be overcome by them. For example, a ship entering the great ocean, if it breaks or sinks in the ocean, and the people on board do not grasp or cling to the corpses of those who have died in the sea, or to grass or trees, will sink in the middle of the ocean and will not reach the shore. But those who grasp these things will reach the shore on the other side of the ocean. Similarly, anyone who has faith in the Dharma and has obtained initial respect, if he does not follow this Prajnaparamita-mother, will always wander in the ocean of Samsara, which is turbulent with the waves of birth, old age, sickness, death, and sorrow. Anyone who has qualities such as faith, if he is completely mastered by the supreme Prajnaparamita, will become skilled in the emptiness of the nature of things and will show the ultimate truth to others. They are the means, the mind of enlightenment, great compassion, and the qualities of generosity and so on, and the Prajnaparamita.

If fully mastered, one will quickly attain the supremely wondrous Sugata's Bodhi. Furthermore, for example, if someone puts water into an unbaked clay pot, know that because the clay pot is fragile, it will quickly break and be destroyed. If water is put into a baked clay pot, that is, filled and carried, there will be no fear of it breaking on the road, and one will return home safely. Similarly, some Bodhisattvas, although having faith and diligence in the Dharma, if they are separated from Prajnaparamita, will quickly wander in the ocean of Samsara, fall into the state of Sravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, and become unworthy. If, through having faith and other means, that wisdom is fully mastered, one will greatly transcend the two, Sravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, and attain the supreme Bodhi of the Buddhas. Furthermore, for example, if a poorly repaired boat enters the ocean, it will be destroyed in the ocean together with its wealth, merchants, and goods. If that boat is well repaired and equipped, the boat will not be destroyed, and the people and wealth will reach the shore of the ocean safely. Similarly, although a Bodhisattva is supported by skillful means and faith, if there is no Prajnaparamita, one will fall into the ocean of Samsara and inferior paths, and quickly degenerate from the Bodhi of the Buddhas. If that faith is combined with the supreme Prajnaparamita, one will attain the Bodhi of the Victors without being harmed or diminished. Furthermore, for example, an old and suffering person who has lived to be one hundred and twenty years old, even if they stand up, is not able to walk on their own. If, when walking, they are supported by others on both the left and right sides, there will be no fear of falling, and they will walk easily. Similarly, a Bodhisattva with weak wisdom, even if they have fully entered the Mahayana path, will degenerate in the middle. If that Bodhisattva is supported by skillful means such as faith and the supreme Prajnaparamita, they will not degenerate in the middle, but will attain the Bodhi of the Tathagatas. In these instances, the wisdom and Prajnaparamita that are mentioned primarily refer to the Path Prajnaparamita, that is, the extraordinary wisdom of a Bodhisattva who realizes emptiness, supported by Bodhicitta.
