I, with generosity and other practices as companions, if connected with a pure aspiration, such a thing is rare, so contemplate the difficulty of obtaining a leisure and endowment body. By way of example, it is also difficult to obtain. For example, although there are other examples, here, just as precious jewels such as gold and silver are difficult to obtain, while grass, trees, and ordinary goods are easy to obtain, so too, one should contemplate that obtaining a special body is difficult, while obtaining an inferior body is easy. Second, how to take the essence has two parts: generating certainty about the general framework of the path, and actually taking the essence. The first has two parts: how all the scriptures are included in the teachings of the stages of the path of the three types of individuals, and the reason for guiding them in order through the door of the three types of individuals. The first is: all the teachings spoken by the Buddhas are for the purpose of establishing sentient beings in higher realms and definite goodness. Starting from accomplishing higher realms, all that is spoken is included in the teachings of the small individual or those common to them. Definite goodness has two aspects: liberation that is merely liberation from samsara and the state of Buddhahood. The first of these, starting from the vehicle of hearers and solitary realizers, all that is spoken is included in the teachings of the intermediate individual or those common to them. For the sake of attaining Buddhahood, all the teachings of the tantric and perfection of wisdom vehicles that are spoken are included in the teachings of the great individual. The three types of individuals are also described in the "Lamp for the Path": Whoever, by whatever means, Seeks only the happiness of samsara For his own sake, Know that person to be the lowest. Turning his back on the pleasures of existence, His nature is to turn away from sinful deeds, Whoever seeks only his own peace, That person is called intermediate. Whoever, afflicted by the suffering Belonging to his own mind-stream, Wishes to completely end All the suffering of others, That person is the highest. It is said that this refers to the small individual who primarily seeks happiness in future lives. On top of that, the means of liberation from the suffering of samsara, and one who primarily seeks that, is the intermediate individual. In order to end the suffering of all sentient beings, one wants to attain the state of Buddhahood.
