It is easy to determine the absence, but difficult to determine things like eyes and ears on the Dharma, which is the difference. Second, whether or not to apply that to others: Those without basis, like rabbit horns, it is enough to say "there is none," and that distinction need not be applied. If it exists in some place but not in that place, then it is said to not exist there, and that distinction need not be applied. When refuting the uncommon fabrications of other schools and realists, one can refute without applying the distinction of the object to be refuted, except in special cases. When Madhyamikas refute what they believe to exist conventionally, they must apply the distinction of the object to be refuted. Categories of objects to be refuted include: truly established, self-established, established by its own characteristic, established by its own entity, established as suchness, truly established, and ultimately established, etc. It is sufficient to apply any of these. Third, whether or not to apply ultimate truth to the object to be refuted makes no difference to the two Madhyamikas. However, the Svatantrikas do not accept ultimately established, truly established, truly established, and established as suchness, but they do accept established by its own characteristic and self-established, which is the difference. Secondly, whether the refutation of the object to be refuted is done by consequence or autonomy is explained in two points: identifying the meaning of consequence and autonomy, and following which of the two to generate the view in the continuum. The first point is divided into two: refuting the views of others and establishing one's own views. The first point has two aspects: stating and refuting. In the case of one's own views, there are two aspects: Svatantrika being refuted and not being the same as oneself. The first point has the fault of the subject not being established as a basis, and the reason also not being established. The first point has two aspects: stating the assertion and refuting it. The refutation has two aspects: the meaning is unreasonable and the example is unreasonable, etc., but because there are too many, they are omitted. Second, which of the two should be followed to generate the view in the continuum? Among the two Madhyamikas, which one should be followed? Here, one must follow the Prasangika system, which was clearly explained by glorious Chandrakirti, as Je himself thought. Third, there are three ways to generate the view in the continuum based on that.

The determination of the selflessness of persons and the selflessness of phenomena, and how to eliminate obscurations through familiarizing oneself with the view. The first has three parts: determining that the self is without inherent existence, thereby establishing that what belongs to the self is without inherent existence, and how to apply these to other things through reasoning. The first has two parts: giving an example and applying the meaning. The first is: The sutra says: 'Just as by relying on the collection of limbs, it is spoken of as a chariot, so too, by relying on the aggregates, it is nominally called a sentient being.' Here there are four points: showing that the chariot is an imputation that lacks inherent existence, refuting arguments against this, how it is established from the perspective of names, and the benefit of quickly gaining insight based on it. The first is: The Introduction says: 'The chariot is not desired to be other than its parts, nor non-other than its parts, nor does it possess them, nor is it in the parts. It is not merely an accumulation, nor is it a shape, thus it should be observed.' Thus, the chariot and the aggregates of the self are spoken of by combining example and meaning. That is to say, if the chariot were established by its own nature, it would have to be found when searching in seven ways, such as one and many, but since none of these seven ways are established, it does not have its own nature. If these are summarized, the chariot is not of the same nature as its parts, because if it were one, then just as there are many parts, the chariot would also become many; or just as the chariot is one, the parts would also become one. The chariot is also not separate in essence from its parts, because if it were other, then just as a vase and a pillar are clearly different, the chariot and its parts should be seen separately, but they are not seen separately. As for the two aspects of support and supported, just as yogurt resides in a bowl, the chariot is not the support of its parts; just as Lhas Byin resides in a tent, the chariot does not inherently exist by relying on its parts, because if it existed, it would have to exist independently of each other. The aspect of possessing is also unreasonable, because just as Lhas Byin possesses wealth, it does not possess it in the way of being different in entity; just as Lhas Byin possesses ears, it does not inherently possess it in the way of being the same in entity, because if it possessed it in the way of being different in entity, then one should be able to grasp the chariot without relying on the parts, but that is not the case.
