With me, whatever manifests at the time of death ripens first. If they are the same, then the most familiar one comes first; if they are the same, then the fruit of what was done first ripens first, it is said. Second is the detailed explanation: In order to accomplish omniscience, one needs a basis that is complete with characteristics, therefore there are three here: the qualities of maturation, the fruits of maturation, and the causes of maturation. If these are summarized, the first has eight: complete life and longevity; complete color, with good form and color, etc.; complete lineage, born into a respected lineage; complete wealth, with great retinue and enjoyment; trustworthy to others, with honest words; great fame and reputation through qualities; born as a male; healthy and with little harm, possessing strength. The fruits of maturation are eight: doing many good deeds oneself; disciples gathering with joy; not transgressing the instructions of others; gathering and ripening through generosity; gathering and ripening through pleasant speech, etc.; being skillful in what others have done and listening to instructions; great wisdom and fearlessness in the retinue, etc.; and not being weary of one's own and others' benefit and being full of enthusiasm. The causes of maturation are eight: relying on thoughts of not harming others; giving light such as lamps and clothes; being humble and respectful to lamas, etc.; giving alms to beggars; abandoning the four non-virtues of speech; offering to the Three Jewels and planting prayers for the future arising of qualities; delighting in the qualities of males and not delighting in the things of females, and being liberated from cutting off the faculties of others; doing help that others cannot do. Third, there are two ways of entering and returning: general teaching and the four powers of repentance. The first is: thinking that the two fruits of happiness and suffering arise without confusion from the two karmas, cultivating faith in karma and its results, and especially contemplating the way in which suffering arises from the fruits of non-virtuous karma is very important. Second, the way to do the four powers is that if a downfall needs to be remedied, then it should be done as it arises separately from the three vows. Confession of sins should be done with the four powers, the power of reliance is refuge and bodhicitta.

The power of confession is to confess sins. The power of applying antidotes is to generate antidotes to sins, such as reciting profound sutras, reciting the names of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, reciting Dharani mantras, and meditating on emptiness, etc. The power of reversing is to vow not to commit the same mistakes in the future. If you do this regularly, the accumulation of sins will gradually be purified, and it is said that even the karma that must be experienced will be eliminated. However, it is also necessary to know that the previous Vipaka is not excluded from anything. Second, the measure of its arising is that the mind that seeks the next world arises genuinely and without artifice. Third, eliminating wrong ideas about it is that some people think that having a perfect body and possessions is Samsara, so it is not appropriate to seek it, but that is not the case. The Rupakaya of the Buddha and the wealth of the Buddha-fields are not included in Samsara. Just as one seeks a vessel for the sake of water to quench thirst temporarily, so too, in order to practice the Holy Dharma, one must obtain a special basis for temporary higher realms. These are the parts of mind training on the stages of the path that are common to individuals of small capacity. Having thought in this way, even if one is liberated from the lower realms and attains the higher realms, one should not be content with just that, and therefore one must generate the mind of seeking liberation, so there are four parts of mind training on the stages of the path that are common to individuals of medium capacity: training the intention, the measure of its arising, eliminating wrong ideas about it, and explaining the nature of the path to liberation. The first point has two parts: identifying the mind that seeks liberation, and the method of generating it. First, the cessation of liberation from the bonds of karma and afflictions is liberation, and the mind that desires to attain it is the mind that seeks liberation. Second, the method of generating it is that one must see the aggregates of grasping as being of the nature of suffering and generate aversion to them. Otherwise, just like the mind that seeks peace, it will not arise. As the Catuhsataka says: For someone who has no aversion here, how can there be reverence for peace? Therefore, there are two points here: thinking from the perspective of the two truths of suffering and its origin, and...
