and increase them further. Those that are temporarily exhausted after yielding fruit will never be exhausted. In short, they are summarized as accumulating, purifying, increasing, and never being exhausted, as it is said. Furthermore, in the Lamrim, it says, "Having understood the meaning of those words in this way, without letting the mind wander elsewhere, doing as instructed slowly, one will accumulate an immeasurable amount of merit." This is very important, and it is the same in other situations. Secondly, the detailed explanation of the specifics of the main aspiration is divided into two: the classification of aspirations and the extent to which aspirations are made. The first part has sixteen: aspiring from the perspective of intention, similarly, combining from the perspective of not forgetting the mind of enlightenment, from the perspective of uncontaminated application, from the perspective of benefiting and bringing happiness to sentient beings, from the perspective of armor, from the perspective of meeting friends with shared fortune, from the perspective of pleasing virtuous spiritual friends, from the perspective of offering to manifest Buddhas, from the perspective of upholding the sacred Dharma, from the perspective of an inexhaustible treasury, from the perspective of multiple entries, from the perspective of strength, from the perspective of practice, from the perspective of action, from the perspective of following (the Buddha), and from the perspective of gathering. The first part has four: offering to the Buddhas who have already appeared, for the sake of fulfilling the intentions of the Buddhas who have not yet appeared, for the sake of purifying the Buddha's fields, and for the sake of placing all sentient beings in benefit and happiness. The first is: the past Buddhas, etc., two lines. By the virtue of having made the seven-branch offering in this way, may I, in this life and in others, offer to all the Buddhas who have already appeared in the past and have shown the aspect of passing away in the appearance of those to be tamed, and to all the Buddhas who are now dwelling for the benefit of sentient beings in the ten directions of the world, from the east to the bottom, with the rows of offerings. The second is: those who have not yet come, etc., two lines. May those who will become Buddhas, but have not yet reached the state of Buddhahood and wish to become Buddhas, quickly, without a long delay, in the manner of fulfilling their intentions, attain the unsurpassed

To approach or realize enlightenment is to go forth. Third, "All directions, etc." are two lines: Not just one direction, but all the impure lands in all ten directions, however many there are, may they all become vast and completely pure, free from the faults of container and essence, like the Pure Land of Bliss and the Manifest Joyful Land. This is praying for the purification of the container. May all these lands be filled with the victorious ones who have gone to the Bodhi tree throne, and the sons of the Buddhas, the Bodhisattvas. This is praying for the purification of the essence. Fourth, "Sentient beings of the ten directions, etc." are four lines: Here there are two prayers, one for the pacification of undesirable things, and the other for the accomplishment of desired things. The first is: May all sentient beings in the ten directions always be free from illness and possess the special happiness of higher realms. The second is: May all the necessary things for the Dharma that all these sentient beings strive for be accomplished according to the Dharma and as desired, and may whatever wishes they have for this purpose be well accomplished. Here, "in accordance" is in terms of rhyme, but if it is understood as "may it be accomplished," the meaning is not contradictory. The second section, praying not to forget the mind of enlightenment, is divided into two: praying to have favorable conditions, and praying to be free from unfavorable conditions. First, "Bodhi conduct, etc." are four and a half verses: Here there are also prayers to remember past lives and to renounce, to perfect practice and purify morality, to teach the Dharma to beings in their own languages, and to strive for the Paramitas and not to be separated from the mind of enlightenment. First is: For the sake of unsurpassed enlightenment, I practice the special conduct of the Buddha's son, and wherever I am born, the basis of practice, may I remember all my past lives. Thus, in all lifetimes, in all stages of death and rebirth, may I always renounce. Second is: Having renounced in this way, as taught by all the Buddhas
