Then, to eliminate the darkness of ignorance of sentient beings to be tamed, all those lords of ultimate wisdom who have sequentially attained enlightenment and become Buddhas, the lamps of the world, who directly see all knowable things without attachment or obstruction. By whom? By me. Where? For the benefit of all sentient beings, in the profound and vast, supreme and unsurpassed Dharma wheel. This is like Brahma and Indra urging the turning of the Dharma wheel when the teacher Buddha did not teach the Dharma before. Sixth, requesting not to pass into Nirvana, that is, requesting to remain in the world. Nirvana, showing, etc., have four parts, that is, directly saying please do not pass into Nirvana. To whom? To all Buddhas, especially those Buddhas who vow to show the aspect of passing into Nirvana in the world. For what purpose? In order to lead all sentient beings to temporary happiness, higher realms, and ultimate benefit, definite goodness. How long? Not just like one kalpa, but to remain for as long as the number of dust particles in countless Buddha-fields. By whom is the request made? By me. How? From the depths of my heart, with hands pressed together. Seventh, dedicating the merits of the previous six branches: that is, prostration, etc., have four parts. Thus, prostrating, making offerings, confessing sins, rejoicing in virtues, urging the turning of the Dharma wheel, and requesting not to pass into Nirvana, all the merits that I have accumulated, together with the merits accumulated in the three times, I dedicate them all for the sake of attaining unsurpassed enlightenment. Second, summarizing the meaning: From the Great Treatise on the Stages of the Path to Enlightenment. Thus, prostration, offering, urging, requesting, and rejoicing are the five conducive conditions for accumulating merit. Confession is the opposing condition for purifying obscurations. One aspect of rejoicing, cultivating joy in one's own virtuous deeds, can also increase one's own merit. Dedication can make the merits of accumulation, purification, and increase, even if they are small, become very great.
