B. Requesting to remain without passing into Nirvana, and dedicating all virtues to perfect enlightenment. The first part is divided into two points: prostrations common to the three doors, and individual prostrations. The first point is the four lines "As many as there are," etc., meaning "I prostrate." In what place? As many as there are, that is, beyond the measure of counting by means of numbers. Who are the Buddhas? Those who are named by means of names, beyond the measure of expression, those who have gone and will come in the ten directions, such as the east, and the three times of past, future, and present, the Buddhas, the Bhagavad-Arhats, who dwell in the manner of humans, just as a lion is fearless in a herd of wild animals, because they are fearless with the four fearlessnesses against the attacks of outsiders and within the Sangha, therefore to all human lions. Although there are cases where "all" is said for each direction because of the desire to express, it is not like that, but in order to understand that nothing is left out, the distinction of "without remainder" and "all those" is specially added. In what way do you prostrate? I, the one who makes aspirations, with the three doors of body, speech, and mind, from the door of faith that is free from the impurity of disbelief. That is to say, even if one prostrates to just one Buddha, immeasurable merit will arise, so if one prostrates with countless Buddhas as the object, how much greater will the merit be? As the master Yeshe De said in the commentary, it is also mentioned in the Lamrim. Second, the individual prostrations of the three doors are divided into three parts, the first of which is the prostration of the body, i.e., the four lines "Manjushri's courageous wisdom," etc., meaning prostration. In what place? To all the victors who have conquered all sinful dharmas and the four maras. In what way? By means of the power of the aspiration of Manjushri's conduct, visualizing all the victors as appearing manifestly before oneself or in one's own place by the power of mind, prostrating with the utmost reverence by emanating bodies equal to the number of dust particles of all Buddha-fields. As the master Yeshe De said, even prostrating with just one body is of great merit, so if one prostrates with so many bodies, the merit will be even greater, as it is also mentioned in the Lamrim. The second is the prostration of the mind, i.e., the four lines "On each atom," etc., on one atom

Furthermore, visualize that the principal Buddhas, equal in number to the dust particles in the world, are dwelling in the center, surrounded by the bodhisattva sons of the Buddhas. Likewise, not just in one area or direction, but visualize that all of space, like the realm of emptiness devoid of directions, is filled with the victorious ones and their retinues, and pay homage with your mind. The third is the homage of speech, which consists of four lines, such as praise. I praise, thus it is stated. To whom? To all the Sugatas who have reached the state of complete abandonment and realization. How? Even if the praises of the qualities of these Sugatas are spoken for eons, they will not be exhausted, being as numerous as the waters of the inexhaustible great ocean. Through all the sounds of the ocean-like multitude of limbs of voice, the qualities of abandonment and realization of all those victorious ones are spoken and understood. Here, the ocean is a word for multitude, not just referring to the ocean, but symbolizing it. Regarding the meaning of "limbs of voice," there are two different views: In the commentaries of Nagarjuna, Dignāga, Vasubandhu, and Guṇaprabha, it is explained in connection with the sixty limbs of speech. However, in the commentary of Shakya Shé-nyen and another commentary, it is said that the limbs of voice are the causes for the accomplishment of voice, such as the tongue and palate. In the Great Treatise on the Stages of the Path, following the latter view, it is said that here voice is praise, and its limb is the cause, namely the tongue, which seems more reasonable. However, if the commentary attributed to Nagarjuna was indeed written by him, then it must be understood according to its explanation. Whether or not it was written by him is subject to investigation. Because the sixty limbs of speech are in reference to the speech of the Buddha, even if the one making the aspiration here is interested in it, they feel that the connection is small, so it needs further study. The five limbs are explained in the Discrimination of Wisdom Sutra as: profound like the sound of a dragon, pleasant and delightful and pleasing to the ear, pleasing and joyful, clear and easy to understand, worthy of listening to and without contradiction. The content of the sixty limbs is also in that treatise.
