By pacifying these three, may the power of the excellent conduct of Samantabhadra be perfected. Here, if we quote some statements from the commentaries, that is, the questions and answers about the principle of purifying karmic obscurations through aspiration, it will become numerous, so in short, how will karmic obscurations be purified by merely making aspirations? The reason is that making aspirations in this way is like confessing sins with a repentant heart, so it has the power to refute. Moreover, if it is held by refuge and bodhicitta, it has the power of support. At that time, if one knows that sins and other dharmas are empty in nature, like illusions, then one has the special power of counteracting pervasive actions, so one has three powers. If one wants to return from sins, then the power of returning arises, so one will have four powers. Because these four powers are the complete antidote to sins, karmic obscurations will be exhausted. Although there are many ways to purify sins, the main thing is to know that all dharmas such as sins are empty in nature from the beginning, like illusions, which is the key. As it is said in the "Ratnakuta Sutra": "Light Protector, if there are sentient beings who are endowed with the great faults of the ten non-virtuous paths, but they also enter the teachings of the Tathagata, have the causes and conditions, and think about who is the doer and who is the receiver, there is no self, no sentient being, no life, no person. Thus, all dharmas are false, non-fabricated, without defilement, the nature of illusion, and the nature of self-luminous. If those sentient beings believe and understand that all dharmas are pure from the beginning, especially believe and rejoice, then I will not say that those sentient beings will fall into evil destinies." Similarly, many other scriptures and treatises also elaborate on this. The term "great fault" in this sutra indicates that even the five heinous crimes can be purified in this way. In particular, the phrase "who is the doer" refers to karma; the phrase "who is the receiver" refers to the nature of the doer of karma.

Therefore, it is extremely important to understand that all phenomena are empty of inherent existence. To summarize its meaning, the self of the practitioner is empty of inherent existence. The self is merely a designation imputed upon the aggregates; it does not exist independently. As for actions, those of the past have ceased and do not exist in the present; those of the future have not yet arisen or occurred; and those of the present perish in an instant, so they cannot remain permanent. Although they do not remain until they produce their result, one must understand that they produce results in a manner like an illusion, free from the extremes of permanence and annihilation. This is just a brief illustration. In general, merely making aspirations does not necessarily guarantee that things will be accomplished as desired. For example, a bodhisattva might aspire, "May I alone liberate all sentient beings from suffering and establish them in the state of Buddhahood." There are many ways to make aspirations like this. Whether or not such aspirations are fulfilled, their benefit is immense. Fourteenth Section: Aspiring through the Door of Actions: Pure Lands Like Oceans, etc., Two Verses: May the Buddha's pure lands, like oceans, be utterly pure, with golden ground adorned with precious Indranila gems, etc. May sentient beings, like oceans, be completely liberated from suffering and its causes. May the sacred Dharma, gathered by scripture and realization, like oceans, be thoroughly seen through the wisdom of hearing, contemplation, and meditation. May the ocean of wisdom that comprehends all the manifold divisions of knowledge be fully realized. May the conduct of enlightenment, like oceans, be completely purified. May the oceans of aspirations for the benefit of others be perfectly fulfilled. May the Buddhas, as numerous as oceans, be fully venerated. To accomplish all of the above, may I strive without discouragement for oceans of eons. The term "ocean" is used to represent an extremely large number. Fifteenth Section: Aspiring through the Door of Completely Following: Buddhas Like Oceans, etc., Four Verses: This is aspiring to follow the Buddhas and to follow the Bodhisattvas. First: Whatever Buddhas there are, all the Victorious Ones who have appeared and passed away in the three times
