The meaning is that what is indicated by the word "also," and what is not abandoned by the mind, is: If some people do something that is not to their liking, they think that they will never do this thing again. This is abandoning sentient beings, and one should not do that. Fifth, the way to abandon black dharmas and study the four white dharmas is: This is so that one can remember in other lives as well, and completely protect the precepts as stated. It is said. This aspiration that is held by the ritual, it is not enough to just have precepts that are the cause of not deteriorating in this life. In order to remember and not forget that mind in future lives, one must completely protect and rely on the two sets of four precepts as stated in the Sutra Requested by Dhāraṇīdhara. What are the two sets of four dharmas? They are as they appear in the Great Treatise on the Stages of the Path, etc. Second, explaining the precepts of entering the mind of enlightenment, there are three parts: showing that one must take the vows of entering, how to take them, and explaining the precepts. The first is: The nature of entering the mind, apart from the vows, will not cause the true aspiration to increase. Those who wish to increase the vows of complete enlightenment, therefore, must make an effort to take this vow. It is said. After taking the vow with the ritual, one must take this vow of entering the practice. If one wants to increase the aspiration called the vow of complete enlightenment, one must increase it through the gate of the vow of entering the practice, which is the nature of entering the mind. Because apart from the vow, there is no other way to increase the true aspiration. Second, how to take the vow of entering the practice, there are three parts: the basis of taking, the object of taking, and the ritual of taking. The first is: Of the seven types of individual liberation, those who always have other vows, have the opportunity to have the vows of a Bodhisattva, otherwise not. It is said. Male and female lay practitioners, male and female novices, male and female monks, these are six, and adding the vows of female monks, as it is said that there are seven types of individual liberation, any of the seven types, or a sin of the same nature as this, always, that is, taking it for as long as one lives, those who have it in their continuum, have the opportunity to generate the vows of entering the practice of a Bodhisattva, otherwise, that is, those who break the vows as they should.

The bodhisattva's vows do not arise without abandoning. Here, it is directly stated that any of the seven types of individual liberation is required as the basis for the arising of the entering vows. This is in terms of the specialness and importance of the basis, but it is not necessarily required, because the entering vows can arise even for those who have not taken the individual liberation vows. Here, the upavāsa vows are not mentioned among the seven types because they only last for one day, considering the short duration. Showing the difference of the basis is: Among the seven classes of individual liberation, as spoken by the Tathāgata, the glory of brahmacarya is the most excellent, it is considered to be the vows of a bhikṣu. This means that the basis of the bodhisattva vows is the seven classes of individual liberation, as spoken by the Tathāgata. Among the householder's vows, the glory of brahmacarya, the vows of a renunciate, is the most excellent, and among the vows of a renunciate, the vows of a bhikṣu are considered the most excellent. Second, the place from which to take the vows is: Skilled in the ritual of vows, one who abides in vows himself, able to bestow vows, possessing compassion, should be known as a good teacher. This verse appears after the words "in the Bodhisattvabhūmi," but it is quoted earlier for ease of explanation. So, what is the place from which to take the vows like? It is one who possesses the wisdom of being skilled in the ritual of taking vows, who himself abides in the bodhisattva vows, who has the ability and confidence to bestow the vows on others, and who has the four qualities of great compassion. Therefore, such a person should be known as a good teacher for taking the bodhisattva vows. Third, the ritual of how to take the vows is divided into two: the ritual with a teacher and the ritual without a teacher. The first is: In the Bodhisattvabhūmi, in the chapter on ethics, in the spoken ritual, take the vows from a good teacher who possesses true qualities. This means, take them from there. What is the entering vow? From where to take it? As said before, take it from a teacher who possesses true qualities. Relying on what ritual to take it? Relying on what is said in the chapter on ethics in the Bodhisattvabhūmi composed by the noble Asaṅga.
