It is so. Secondly, the wisdom arising from hearing that relies on the scriptures is: From the reasoning of the "Seventy Stanzas on Emptiness" and the "Root Verses on the Middle Way" etc., it is also said: The very nature of things, is established as emptiness. Why? Because the scriptures are numerous, therefore, I will not elaborate on it here, but only within the established tenets, it is well explained for the sake of practice. Thus it is said. Furthermore, establishing emptiness through scripture is extracted from the "Collected Sutras of the Noble Ones"; establishing it through reasoning is the reasoning of the "Seventy Stanzas on Emptiness"; determining it through endless categories of emptiness reasoning is the "Root Wisdom of the Middle Way", and other collections of reasoning; and in the treatises of Aryadeva, Buddhapalita, Chandrakirti, etc., one should also observe that the very nature of things, is emptiness, empty of inherent existence. There is a reason why these are not elaborated on in this treatise, because it is feared that the scriptures would become too numerous, and therefore it is not elaborated. What is shown here is also an explanation of the tenets established by scripture and reasoning, the necessity is well explained for the sake of practicing selflessness. In the auto-commentary of this section, "the reasoning of the Seventy Stanzas on Emptiness", etc., is said to show the reason for dependent origination, namely: The aggregates etc., the objects, are not inherently born, because they arise in dependence on causes and conditions. This is what is said in the "Sutra Requested by Anavatapta": Whatever is born from conditions, that is unborn, it does not have the nature of being born, whatever depends on conditions, that is said to be empty, whoever knows emptiness, that is a cautious one. And the Protector said in the "Root Verses on Wisdom": Whatever is dependent arising, that is inherently peaceful. The meaning of what was said. Secondly, the way to meditate on higher vision is: Therefore, since the nature of all phenomena without exception, is not perceived, meditating on selflessness is it, that is meditating on wisdom. Thus it is said. There is a way to meditate on higher vision, as above, having determined through reasoning that all phenomena such as the aggregates are without inherent existence, therefore, all phenomena such as the aggregates without exception, after truly examining with the discriminating intelligence of ultimate truth, those established by nature, are empty because not even a particle is found.

Therefore, meditating on such emptiness and selflessness through analytical meditation is indeed meditating on the Perfection of Wisdom. Generally, there are two types of meditation: analytical meditation and stabilizing meditation. Here, "self" refers to the self to be refuted, which is defined as something that exists independently without relying on others. As stated in the commentary on the Four Hundred Verses: "The term 'self' refers to the inherent nature of things that does not depend on others; the absence of that is selflessness." So, how does one abandon clinging to the wisdom that realizes this? The scripture says: "Wisdom sees all phenomena, if it does not see self-nature, that wisdom itself should be examined, and meditated on without conceptualization." This means that the wisdom that examines ultimate truth seeks the true nature of all phenomena, and if it is not found, then that wisdom itself should be examined with reason, and it will be seen to be without inherent existence. Having seen this negation of meaninglessness, one should meditate without any other conceptualization, focusing single-pointedly, because that is the main cause for attaining liberation and nirvana. As stated in the King of Samadhi Sutra: "If one individually contemplates the selflessness of phenomena, if one analyzes and meditates on it separately, that is the cause of the fruit of nirvana. What other cause can make it peaceful?" Third, regarding the result of meditation, there are two aspects: the actual meaning and the proof by scripture. The first is the actual meaning: "This existence arising from conceptualization is the nature of conceptualization. Therefore, completely abandoning all conceptualizations, nirvana is the supreme." This means that this existence of samsara, which arises from the conceptualization of grasping things as real, that is, from ignorance and other causes of suffering, is actually the truth of suffering, which is the nature of conceptualization. Because it arises from the conceptualizations of afflictions, is bound by those conceptualizations, and does not transcend the control of those conceptualizations. Therefore, the truth of cessation, which is the complete abandonment of all conceptualizations, both cause and effect, is the supreme nirvana. This text also explains the Four Noble Truths: "conceptualization" indicates the truth of origin, "existence" and "conceptual
