Because the arising and the cessation of your seed are simultaneous. If you want cessation according to your view, then it is unreasonable. In that case, the cause of the effect is also non-existent. Our own system considers that when the previous moment of consciousness ceases, it is the immediate cause of the subsequent moment. We do not accept what has already ceased as a cause. This treatise also reveals an opponent who considers form to be an immediate cause, referring to a Vaibhashika. The fourth is: The nature of things, why is existence not existence? Because this exists, this arises, this statement is not reasonable. If the self-cause exists by its own nature, then, knowable phenomena, because this cause exists by its own nature, this effect arises independently, this statement is not reasonable as the definition of a self-cause. Why? Because the existence of things is not by its own nature, because the establishment of self-nature in dependent arising has been refuted. The third has two parts: the conclusion of refuting the arising of the effect, and the conclusion of refuting the nature of the cause in the producer. The first is: When the causes gather separately, that effect is non-existent. What is non-existent in the causes? How does that arise from the causes? If the effect does not exist, but arises from those causes, why does the effect not arise from non-causes? This is what is said. If you say that because you see the effect arising from the cause, it exists there, then, the causes such as threads, separately and together, have the property. In any of you, the effect of the woolen cloth is only non-existent. Because it can be observed but is not observed. The woolen cloth that does not exist in the causes has the property. How does it arise independently from the cause threads, etc.? It does not arise. Because it does not exist there. If the effect does not exist in the causes, but arises from those causes by its own nature, then the woolen cloth has the property. It should also arise from non-causes such as grass. In that case, why does it not arise from those? Because there is the possibility of arising, because even if it does not exist in the cause, it arises by its own nature. Each cause alone produces one woolen cloth.

It cannot be, if it could, then a single piece of cloth would become divided into many pieces, and it would change without depending on the aggregation of causes and conditions. If it is said that the cloth is produced by the aggregation of causes and conditions by its own nature, then this is also unreasonable, because there is no self-nature of cloth in the aggregation of causes and conditions. For example, sesame oil does not arise from the aggregation of sand. The second is: If the result is the nature of the cause, then the causes are not my nature. What result arises from non-self things? How can that be the nature of the cause? Therefore, it is not the nature of the cause. If it is not the nature of the cause, then the result does not exist, because there is no result, how can it become a cause? That's what it says. If it is said that the result is the nature or transformation of the cause, so it will not be harmed by the previous reasoning, then this is also unreasonable, because the causes such as cotton thread are not existing in the nature established by my self, because they are only established depending on the aggregation of their respective parts. The result produced from non-self things, that is, cotton thread, etc., which are not established by self-nature, such as cloth, etc., is. I am, this is Dharmata. In any case, cotton thread, etc., cannot exist in the nature of the cause, because the result that is not established by the nature of the cause does not exist. As it is said in the Four Hundred Treatises: Cloth is produced from cause, and cause is also produced from others, if nothing is established by itself, then how can it produce others? That's what it says. If it is thought that the result established by the nature of the cause exists, then it is also unreasonable, because that is impossible. Someone says: The determination of cause and non-cause exists, because sesame oil is produced from sesame, and milk is not produced; ghee is produced from yogurt, and sesame oil is not produced; neither of them is produced from sand, so cause and non-cause exist by nature. Since it has been said that the result of cause and caused is not self-existent, then how can the determination that this is the cause of this, and this is not the cause, be self-existent? Because cause and non-cause are established in mutual dependence. The second is: Self
