Wanting to arise from other, this does not contradict the aspect of falsehood, but contradicts being established as true. Even if it arises from other, it must be assumed that the fruit arises independently of the seed and at will, so it should be known that it will lead to situations such as cause and effect being simultaneous. If this key to reasoning is not understood, the meaning of the refutation and establishment made below cannot be well understood, so it should be known. Secondly, in the previous text, the "if" in "if not" is combined with the previous place, and here "if" is combined with the seventh case of time. The nature or essence of the objects of the fruit, the subject of dharma. It does not exist when the seeds and other conditions are assembled, and at any time when it has not been transformed upwards, because it has not been seen to exist in that way, and if it exists, it will become causeless. Also, the fruit's own object, the sprout, the subject of dharma. It is not from its own cause, the seed, that it is the object of otherness in its essence, therefore it does not arise from other, because its own cause, the seed, does not exist when it is not transformed, thus establishing pervasion. In this way, even if one admits the four conditions as stated by the Bhagavan, there is no need for other-arising, because the fruit is prevented from arising in its essence from a cause of otherness that is unrelated to oneself. The reason is that those who want other-arising think that the fruit arises from an other cause that is established by its own nature, in which case it must be thought that the cause and effect are separate and unrelated, but that is unreasonable. These show three reasons: they show the basis of agreement between other and arising, and the harm that the arising and the cause and effect are other in essence, thus preventing it. What is to be refuted is generally what is said to be established by its own nature, which is not newly made, its own nature is not made dependent on others, and it must have three characteristics that it will not become other in the future. As stated in the fifteenth chapter of the Commentary on Valid Cognition: "Self-nature is not made, it does not depend on others." And "If self-nature changes, it is never reasonable." As it is said. Merely having those three characteristics does not necessarily mean that it is established by its own nature, but if it is established by its own nature, it must have those three characteristics, and if it is established by its own nature, it is established in that way at all times.

It is not that the two each rely on their own unique sprout. If that were the case, then even during the time when the sprout is growing, there must be a sprout, because all parts of the sprout are growing, so the sprout will not be able to grow completely. If, like a sprout, it relies only on its own completed act of growing, then the sprout will become the agent of the act of growing, or the sprout will disappear, and so on. Similarly, eye consciousness and so on should also be understood in this way. Having understood it in this way, the meaning of the text is: Eye consciousness, dharma, it is impossible for you to accomplish the act of arising by means of having conditions with the eyes and so on that are established by your own nature, because the act of causing you, who have not arisen, to arise does not exist in ultimate truth, and the act of causing what has already arisen to arise again also does not exist. That dharma, it is also impossible for you to accomplish the act of arising by means of not having conditions, because it is impossible for it to happen that way. That dharma, eyes and so on, the act of arising does not truly possess, therefore you are not naturally its condition, because at that time eyes and so on are your condition in name, but not a condition in ultimate truth. That dharma, eyes and so on, also do not truly arise by means of accomplishing the act through conditions, because the act of your producer is not possessed from your own side, but it is not only that. The self-system believes that both the transmitted cause and the direct cause accomplish the act of the fruit arising, so the act is conditioned, but here it is the negation of the nature of the conditioned act. That is to say, eyes and so on are the cause of the act of arising of the fruit, consciousness and so on, and ultimately it must be assumed that the fruit arises from a distinction in the act accomplished by it. The second view is that the Sutra school and others say: What is the use of this analysis of whether the act is conditioned or unconditioned? Because it is seen that relying on these conditions of eyes and so on, eye consciousness and so on arise. For that reason, these eyes and so on are naturally established as the condition of consciousness, so it is said. It is not reasonable to say that, because from the seed, as long as the fruit does not arise, that is, the act of arising is not actually seen, then how are these seeds not the condition of the fruit? It must be a condition.
