If things are seen as existing from their own nature, then it should be considered that things exist without cause or condition. Fruits and causes, agents and actions, birth and destruction, will also harm the fruit. So it is said. What are those faults? If you consider things to exist from their own nature, that is, by their own nature, then, since nature is irreversible, you must consider that things do not depend on causes and conditions. If it exists by its own nature, then establishing cause and condition is also unreasonable, so the fruit such as a vase and the cause itself will become non-existent. If vases and the like do not exist, then their makers, such as potters, and their actions, such as wheels, and the actions they perform will also not exist. Since these do not exist, birth and death also do not exist, so all fruits are also harmed. In short, if arising and ceasing etc. exist by their own nature, they cannot be changed, so all the faults listed above will fall on you. It will not change for us. The second is: Whatever is dependently originated is said to be emptiness. It is established by dependence, and that is the Middle Way. Because there is no dharma that is not dependently originated, there is no dharma that is not empty. So it is said. All the establishments on our side are reasonable, because we think that whatever is dependently originated is the meaning of emptiness born of its own nature. The dharma that is empty by its own nature is the dharma nature. Relying on establishment, that is, relying on the basis of establishment, parts, etc. to establish. Dependent origination has no self-nature, so it is dharma-nature. It is the Middle Way that is far from the two extremes and its path, that is, the path traveled by the Middle Way practitioners. Because if one realizes it, one can eliminate faults and increase merits, which is the ultimate goal. Because there is no dharma that is not dependently originated, dependent origination is also emptiness established by its own nature, so there is no dharma that is not empty by its own nature. The meaning of dependent origination has two kinds: common and uncommon.

And, when seeing any object, such as a sprout, arising from its own causes and conditions, one must be certain that the sprout and so on, as well as their causes and conditions, and the arising of the sprout from those causes, are all established dependently. Merely by being established dependently, one can infer that they are empty of inherent existence. If one becomes accustomed to doing so, later, whenever one sees, hears, or thinks of sprouts and so on arising from causes and conditions, one will immediately be certain that they are empty of inherent existence. The third part has six points: the fault of the four noble truths not being established; the fault of the Three Jewels not being established; the fault of the agent and karmic results not being possible; the fault of conventional truths not being possible; the fault of ultimate truths not being possible. The first point is: If all of this is not empty, there will be no arising and no ceasing. Then, for you, the four noble truths will not be established. If it is not dependent arising, how can there be suffering? What is said to be impermanent and suffering is not inherently existent. If it were inherently existent, how could it constantly arise? Therefore, for one who harms emptiness, there is no origin. Suffering is inherently existent, so there is no cessation. Because inherent existence is all-pervasive, cessation is harmful. If the path has inherent existence, then cultivation is not reasonable. If, through cultivation, your path is not inherently existent, then when suffering and origin do not exist, what does the path want to attain to eliminate suffering? If all these things are not empty, because they are inherently existent, then there will be no arising and no destruction. At that time, for you who assert the reality of things, the four noble truths will not be established. Because if inherent existence exists, it cannot be dependently arisen. If it is not dependent arising, then it will not be impermanent, like a flower in the sky. Therefore, how can there be the truth of suffering? Because the truth of suffering is impermanent and changing. The impermanence of contaminated things, which the Bhagavan said is the truth of suffering, is because it is inherently existent.
