Now what is being said is not reasonable. If the characteristic of suffering is not self-existent, then how could its cause, namely the result, desire, be self-existent? If the characteristic of impurity is not self-existent, then how could its cause, namely hatred, be self-existent? Because there is no cause for such transformation. Suffering and non-suffering are established relatively, because for an individual's mind, suffering and non-suffering are not absolutely certain. Because what is suffering from one person's perspective may become non-suffering at another time and for another person. Similarly, good, bad, and medium are also like that. The second part has four aspects: refuting the self-existence of perverted views; refuting the self-existence of what possesses them; refuting by examining the existence or non-existence of their objects; explaining that such refutation is of great significance. The first part has three aspects: refuting the self-existence of the perverted view of permanence; refuting the self-existence of the non-perverted view of impermanence; refuting the self-existence of mere clinging. The first point is: If it is said that impermanence is permanent, and such clinging is wrong, since impermanence does not exist in emptiness, then how can clinging be wrong? Here, there are four kinds of perversions: thinking that the five aggregates, which are impermanent, are permanent; thinking that the aggregates of appropriation, which are the truth of suffering, are happiness; thinking that the body, which is impure, is pure; and thinking that the aggregates, which are not in accordance with the characteristics of self, are self. If it is said that the aggregates are impermanent and are thought to be permanent, and such clinging is a perversion, then since the aggregates are empty of self-nature and impermanence does not exist by its own nature, how can clinging to the aggregates as permanent be self-established as a perversion? It is not. The four perversions can be nominally established as perversions, but they cannot be established as self-existent perversions, because whatever is established by what and where is all nominal and not self-existent. The second point is: If it is said that impermanence is permanent, and such clinging is wrong, then how is clinging to emptiness as impermanent not wrong? If it is said that impermanence is thought to be permanent, and such clinging is a perversion

If someone thinks that things are empty of inherent existence, and therefore clings to inherent impermanence, how is this not a reversal? It is not a reversal. As for the object of knowledge, if the consciousness that clings to impermanence is established by its own nature, then the object of knowledge, impermanence, must also be established by its own nature. Because it is impossible for the knower, which has its own nature, to arise on the basis of the conventional, where the object of knowledge does not exist by its own nature. The third is: By what is grasped, and what is grasped, the grasper and what is grasped, all are pacified, therefore there is no grasping. So it is said. If someone thinks that even if the clinging of reversal is not inherently existent, but merely the clinging itself is inherently existent, that is unreasonable. Because by what is grasped and the action of what is grasped, as well as the grasper and what is grasped, all are inherently pacified, that is, unborn, therefore merely grasping is also not inherently existent. The second part has three points: refuting that the possessor is inherently existent; refuting that the basis of reversal, the person, is established by its own nature; refuting that reversal itself arises by its own nature. The first point is: In reversal or truth, clinging is also not existent, in whom is there reversal, in whom is there non-reversal? So it is said. As previously stated, the agent, the action, etc., do not exist by their own nature, therefore clinging in reversal or truth, that is, in non-reversal, is also not inherently existent. Then, in these persons who are the basis, in whom is there reversal, in whom is there non-reversal, how can they be inherently existent? Because if the basis of the dharma does not exist, the dependent is also unreasonable. The second point is: In one who has become reversed, reversal does not arise, in one who has not become reversed, reversal does not arise, in one who is becoming reversed, reversal does not arise, in whom does reversal arise, one should examine with self-nature. So it is said. Furthermore, if reversal exists inherently on the basis, then it cannot be more than three situations, therefore in the case of having already become reversed, it is impossible for reversal to exist inherently. Because there is no reversal different from the reversal that is established as the clinger of reversal, that is, things related to reversal.
