Then, the subsequent stream of consciousness would not arise either. Because from the previous consciousness, the subsequent stream of consciousness arises, and from that stream of consciousness, satisfactory ultimate results arise. The karma of consciousness precedes the result, therefore, the continuum of karma is neither cut off nor permanently existing, but is neither constant nor annihilated. The second is: The ten paths of virtuous actions are the means of practicing Dharma. The fruits of Dharma in this life and other lives are the merits of the five desirable qualities. The three actions of the body, the four of speech, and the three of mind, these ten paths of virtuous actions, have the nature that they are the means of accomplishing the Dharma of higher realms and definite goodness, because they are the cause of these. Therefore, in this life and the next, one can enjoy the merits of the five desirable qualities, and it is also the cause of accomplishing definite goodness. So, if one thinks that these actions exist by their own nature, the second part is divided into two points: refuting the views of other schools and elaborating one's own view. The first point is: If that kind of analysis is made, many great faults will arise. Therefore, that kind of analysis is unreasonable. If the example of the arising of seeds and sprouts is used to analyze karma, in order to avoid the extremes of permanence and annihilation, that is unreasonable. Because many great faults that contradict what is seen and unseen will arise. The reason is: Just as rice seeds, etc., can only produce fruits of their own kind and will not produce fruits of different kinds, karma can only produce fruits of its own kind and will not produce fruits of different kinds. This would lead to faults, such as, whoever is a god will only be born as a god, and whoever is a human will only be born as a human, and will not be born into other realms, etc. Therefore, the analysis spoken by others is unreasonable in the argument to avoid the extremes of permanence and annihilation of karma. The second part is divided into three points: brief explanation, detailed explanation, and summarizing the main points to avoid the extremes of permanence and annihilation. The first point is: Which analysis spoken by the Buddhas and Pratyekabuddhas and Shravakas is reasonable here, should be explained in detail. It should be understood like evidence, unconsumed karma is like debt. Buddhas

Among all the investigations spoken by the Buddhas, Pratyekabuddhas, and Shravakas, the most reasonable one should be declared in this context of answering. What is that? In the second moment after an action is done, even if it is destroyed, it is not without result. Therefore, in the continuum of the doer, a phenomenon called "non-loss of action" arises, which is like a pledge for having a child. Action should be understood as being like a debt. The second (part) has three: classification and nature, what is to be abandoned, and the way of arising and ceasing. The first is: "That is the four aspects from the realms, Its nature is indeterminate." Some Vaibhashikas say: The non-loss is a phenomenon, there are four kinds of realm distinctions, because there are distinctions of the three realms and the unconditioned. It has a distinction of nature, because it is neither virtuous nor non-virtuous, but indeterminate. The second is: "It is not abandoned by seeing, But is abandoned by cultivation. Therefore, through non-loss, The result of action will arise. If it is abandoned by abandoning, And destroyed by the transfer of action, Then, for it, the faults Of action being destroyed, etc., will be inevitable." The non-loss is a phenomenon, it is not to be abandoned by the abandonment of the path of seeing, but is to be abandoned by the path of cultivation. However, it also includes the abandonment of the non-loss of action that belongs to being beyond the realms. Therefore, through the non-loss of action, the result of action will arise later, even if the action is destroyed by the opponent force, the continuum of non-loss will continue. If the action of ordinary beings is abandoned by the abandonment of what is to be abandoned by seeing, and through the transfer of action, that is, destruction, then the non-loss of these will also be destroyed, which is unreasonable. Because, at that time, the action done will be wasted and destroyed. Etc. includes others. If the non-loss is abandoned by the path of seeing, it is unreasonable, because no result of action will arise in the continuum of the noble ones, therefore it will fall into the faults of encountering what has not been done and wasting what has been done. The third has two: the way of arising and the way of ceasing. The first is: "Action of the same realm is the same part, And all different parts. That at the time of connecting the continuum, Only one arises." Seeing the Dharma
