Refutation and showing harm. The first part has three points: the real meaning, the way to exclude other views, and the refutation of the view that is regarded as the meaning of refutation. The first part has two points: showing that self-nature does not need cause and condition and is contradictory, and the way the self-sect establishes self-nature. The first point is: self-nature from cause and condition, it is unreasonable to arise. Whatever arises from cause and condition, self-nature will become created. Self-nature is called created, how can it be considered reasonable? It is said. If it is thought that there is self-nature in conditioned phenomena, what is the fault? If it is thought that these conditioned phenomena have self-nature, then these phenomena, it is unreasonable to arise from their own cause and condition, because they are self-existent. If it is said that there is no pervasiveness, then, the self-nature that you think arises from cause and condition, it is reasonable to accept that it becomes caused by cause and condition, because you think so. If you think so, it is unreasonable, because self-nature is created, how can it be said to be reasonable? Because one is the other is contradictory, self-nature is not changed by cause and condition, and what is created is changed by cause and condition. The second point is: self-nature is originally non-artificial, and does not depend on others. It is said. How should self-nature be established? It is not the artificiality of not being newly produced before, but the inherent nature of fire, not being confused with fire in the three times, and fire that does not depend on other causes and conditions such as the temperature of water, is emptiness, which is called the self-nature of fire. Fire has the self-nature of heat, and cooling contradicts these three characteristics, so it is not considered the self-nature of fire, and it cannot become the nature of fire. So, what does it mean that heat is the self-nature of fire and wetness is the self-nature or definition of water in the world? There is no fault, because that is a temporary definition or self-nature, so it does not need to have the characteristics as described here. Even if both are recognized in name, there is no contradiction. Therefore, even if there is self-nature, it is not established by self-nature.

It is said that this is the object of another. Where else is there an object other than self-nature and other objects? If self-nature and other objects exist, then the object will be established. If the object is not established, then the non-object will not be established. When an object changes into something else, people say that it is a non-object. Thus it is said. If it is said that other objects exist by their own nature, then upon careful examination, no object exists by its own nature. In that case, how can other objects exist by their own nature? Because the self-nature of other objects, that is, established by essence, it is said that other objects are established by their own nature. Where else is there an object other than self-nature and other objects? As before, if either self-nature or other objects exist by essence, then the object will be established by its own essence, but that is not the case. If it is thought that non-objects exist by their own nature, if objects are not established by their own nature, then non-objects will not be established by their own nature, because when objects change from their present state to something else, people in the world say that the previous object no longer exists. Therefore, here, the view that destroys objects and considers them as non-objects, and that non-objects are established by their own nature, is refuted. The third is: Those who cling to self-nature, other objects, objects, and non-objects, they do not see the reality of the Buddha's teachings. Thus it is said. Those who propound tenets, when explaining the meaning of the scriptures, regard the hardness of earth, the warmth of fire, the experience of feeling, etc., as self-nature, and regard other objects and present consciousness, etc., as objects, and regard these past and future as non-objects, and cling to them as being established by their own nature. These people do not see and correctly explain the profound reality of dependent origination in the Buddha's teachings, because the Victorious One does not accept meanings that contradict reason as his own doctrine. Second, refutation is divided into two: refutation by scripture and by reasoning. The first is: The Blessed One, with his wisdom, in the instructions of Katyayana, forbade both existence and non-existence. Thus it is said. Object, subject, you self-nature
