Because there is no inherent existence. The second (examining whether there is a sequence) has three parts: brief statement, detailed explanation, and conclusion. The first (brief statement) is: Therefore, for it, before and after, and simultaneous sequence are all unreasonable. Thus it is said. Samsara is the subject. For you, the sequence of birth and death, before and after, and simultaneously established by nature is unreasonable, because as previously stated, you do not have the self-nature of the three: beginning, middle, and end. The second (detailed explanation) has two parts: refuting before and after, and refuting simultaneity. The first (refuting before and after) is: If birth comes before, and aging and death come after, then, birth has no aging and death, and one will be born even before dying. If birth comes after, and aging and death come before, then, how can aging and death without birth arise without a cause? Thus it is said. If some birth established by its own nature comes before, and aging and death, which is death, comes after, then this is unreasonable. Because that person's birth has no aging and death, which is no death, because if it is established by its own nature, it is unreasonable to become other in the second time. Moreover, that person will be born again in this life even before dying, because the general self and the particular self of the same person are the same in being established by their own nature. If it is established by its own nature, it will not go beyond being either one or different. If the self-nature is one, it will become one that is completely without otherness. The agent of before and after will also become one, and if they are different, it is also unreasonable, because the before and after will become unrelated, so without relying on the former, a certain person of the later birth will arise separately. In our own system, a single person like Devadatta also has the "I" of this life and the various parts of "I" divided by the differences of years, months, and days, as well as the general "I" that is the possessor of parts without distinguishing before and after, and that is the nominal "I" that pervades all births before and after. The "I" etc. that arise from the distinctions of this life and years, months, and days are parts of that "I", so it is necessary to understand them in detail, but it has already been explained elsewhere, so it will not be repeated here. Furthermore, if the birth of sentient beings comes after, and their aging and death come before, then it is very unreasonable, because how can aging and death without birth arise without a cause? This is unreasonable. The second is, birth

And also aging and death. It is impossible to exist simultaneously, as what is being born will die, and both will become without cause. Thus it is said. Birth and aging and death, etc., as dharmas, it is impossible to exist simultaneously in their own nature, because if they existed, then the intermediate state, in a period of one being born, it would be dying. That is not allowed, generally speaking, birth and destruction are not contradictory, but relative to one basis, birth and cessation are contradictory, because birth is considered to be growth, and cessation is considered to be decline. Both birth and death become without cause, because things that happen simultaneously cannot be the cause of each other. The third is: For what is it that the order of before and after and simultaneous does not exist? That birth and that death, why make elaborations? Thus it is said. Thus, for birth and death, what is first, what is last, and the simultaneous order does not exist, for that, why do you say that birth is that and death is that? It should not be said that way, because the order of birth and death, just as seen by the wisdom of the noble ones, does not exist in its own nature, which is reasonable. One's own tenet is that, nominally, relative to the life of one sentient being, birth is first and death is last, but generally speaking, the order is not necessarily fixed. If established by its own nature, then before and after, etc., either become absolutely one without any difference, or become independent of each other without any connection. For that, the rational harm mentioned before will occur. Know that for the three, before, after, and middle, which are acknowledged nominally, that harm will not occur. As said before, one should distinguish the differences between birth and death relative to one person's life, and the differences between birth and death relative to all past and future lives, their individual differences and general differences. The second is: Samsara is merely the previous limit, not only does it not exist, but also the cause and effect themselves, as well as the nature and the basis of nature, feeling and feeling itself, whatever meaningful things, all things themselves, do not have a previous limit. Thus it is said. The birth and death of sentient beings' samsara, not only does the previous limit not exist, that is, the order of before and after and simultaneous does not exist in its own nature, but also other causes and effects themselves,
