Refutation. Apply this reasoning to the remaining aggregates. This is the way to debate and answer. First, the opponent says: In the Abhidharma, it is said that the four elements do not arise from form, and the form that arises. Therefore, cause and effect phenomena have self-nature. If you say so, there are three refutations to this: Refuting cause and effect in different meanings. Refuting cause and effect in existence and non-existence. Refuting cause and effect in similarity and dissimilarity. The first is divided into two: the proposition and the demonstration of the proof. The first is: If it is not the cause of form, form will not become the object. If it is not called form, the cause of form will not appear. It is said. The cause of the fruit form, such as the eye faculty, is the four great elements. If it is separated from them, that is, the form of the eye, etc., which are different in nature, will not become the object. Moreover, if it is separated from the form called the fruit that arises, that is, the cause of the form that arises, which is different in nature, the four great elements will not appear. Because the four great elements and the form that arises are established in dependence on each other. The second is: If it is not the cause of form, if there is form, then form becomes without cause. Then it becomes a fault, and there is no cause for anything. If there is a cause of form without form, then it becomes a cause without fruit, and a cause without fruit does not exist. It is said. If self-nature exists, then the cause of the fruit form, if it does not depend on the four great elements, that is, the fruit form eye, etc., which are different in nature, will exist. In this way, these fruit forms will become causeless, which is not allowed. Because nothing can arise without cause. If the fruit form does not depend on the cause of form, and the cause of form exists in its own nature, then it is unreasonable. Because the four great elements that are the cause will become causes without fruit. A cause without fruit does not exist, because there is nothing that can establish it as a cause. Like a flower in the sky. If self-nature is established, then it must exist independently, which is a matter of course. It is necessary to remember the meaning of self-nature mentioned earlier. The second is: Even if there is form, the form of

The very nature does not change. Even if formless, for the form, The cause is also unreasonable, the very nature does not change. Those forms without cause, Are unreasonable, not unreasonable. Therefore, for the aspect of form, Even if contradictory, one should not discriminate. Thus it is said. The causes, the arising phenomena, are not established by their own nature as the cause of whatever arises, whether existent or nonexistent. If the effect-form exists by its own nature, the cause cannot do anything to the effect, therefore the cause of form is also unreasonable. If the effect-form does not exist, the cause is unnecessary, therefore the cause of the effect-form is also unreasonable. Even if the cause-form does not exist, the effect-form exists by its own nature, thinking so is extremely unreasonable. Because the effect-forms without cause are unreasonable and not unreasonable. Birth without cause is extremely inferior. Therefore, the yogi, with reason, for the aspect of form, whether obstructed or unobstructed, even if contradictory, should not discriminate that it exists by its own nature, and should not do so. Third, refuting the effect in terms of similarity and dissimilarity with the cause. Saying the effect is the same as the cause, Is not reasonable. Saying the effect is different from the cause, Is also not reasonable. Thus it is said. Furthermore, the non-form of the effect, etc., saying that it is the same in nature as the cause-arising phenomena, is not reasonable. The four elements are of the nature of solidity, moisture, warmth, and motion, while the arising senses, etc., are not like that. It pervades, if the nature is the same, then all parts must be the same. The form of the effect, the eye, etc., as the subject, saying that it arises differently in kind from its own cause-arising phenomena, is also not reasonable. If it arises completely differently in kind, then it is unreasonable to generate the kind of form. Because everything dissimilar will also arise. Second, applying this reasoning to the remaining aggregates. Feeling and perception, formation and, Mind and all things too, All the aspects, Are successively the same as form. Thus it is said. Feeling, perception, formation, mind, name and sign, cause and effect, part and whole, etc.
