The actual example of the moon simile is: a statement where the simile and the subject of the simile share the same meaning in terms of rarity. Although many wise and accomplished individuals have appeared in Tibet, none can compare to Je Tsongkhapa. At the summit of Mount Meru, among the many gods, there is no being like the one with a thousand eyes. And so on. Thirty-first, the similarity combination is: although there are superior and inferior aspects to the simile and the subject of the simile, they are combined to show similarities. Just as the Thubwang (Buddha) teaches the three realms, so does the Tirthika (non-Buddhist) Ishvara teach; just as the Victorious One guides to the path of definite goodness, so does the blue-necked one (Shiva) teach sound and logic. And so on. Thirty-second, the simile of cause is: the qualities of beauty, etc., of the subject of the simile follow the special simile. Like the white face of Saraswati following the moon; the two eyes like blue lotuses; the curved eyebrows like Indra's bow; the white teeth follow the conch shell. And so on. Here, the methods of identifying good and bad qualities and the distinctions of clarifying similarities are not written due to fear of prolixity. Third, there are twenty kinds of figurative ornaments: namely, abbreviated figurative, unabbreviated figurative, and likewise abbreviated and unabbreviated, complete figurative, partial, having parts, single-limbed, having, not having, unequal, having characteristics, contradictory, causal, combined, simile, inverted, obstructive, juxtaposed, figurative, and denying figurative. These should all be expressed in concise terms in accordance with the commentary. First, the abbreviated figurative is: the simile and the subject of the simile, combining the characteristic and the basis, and abbreviating the sixth case. On the bright and vast surface of your body, fine white clouds are woven, and the sound of pleasant summer thunder is proclaimed, so the fortunate radiant ones are busy with dance. And so on. Second, the unabbreviated is: combining the characteristic and the basis, not abbreviating the sixth case. Manjushri's white body is like the king of mountains, bathed in the light of youthful sun. Possessing beautiful and elegant tiers, unwavering and steadfast in abandonment and realization. And so on. Third, the abbreviated and unabbreviated is: there are both abbreviated and unabbreviated sixth cases. From the splendor of youthful form, the face is like lotus petals.

Waving. The tone is melodious, with the sound of bees. The lotus stalk of Saraswati's body sways. Like this. Fourth, all tangible: The metaphors and the things being compared are not such that one has it and the other does not, but rather everything is depicted as tangible. For example: Hands at the top of lush branches, The tender twigs of fingers sway. With leaves of a blue lute, Your body is as beautiful as a wish-fulfilling tree. Like this. Fifth, part tangible: The overall metaphor is not depicted as tangible, but only a part of it is. For example: The matted hair of the well-learned is majestic, The body strength of doctrine and reason is great. The scriptures abide on the summit of the snow mountain, Known as the Regent All-Knowing. Like this. Sixth, having parts: The whole is depicted as tangible, but the special parts are not depicted there. For example: In the sky of Manjushri's face, The eyes that gaze upon the three realms flicker. From the gate of white and beautiful teeth, Preaching the sacred Dharma brings joy. Like this. Seventh, having one part: One part or limb is depicted as tangible, but the whole and many other parts are not depicted there. For example: That great teacher in this world, With the voice of Brahma, teaches beings to be tamed, Places them in higher realms and definite goodness, Turns the wheel of the sacred Dharma. Like this. Eighth, having: Not only does the thing being compared have wholeness and parts, but it also shows that the metaphor also has these. For example: Saraswati's hands are on the treetop, The lute makes a melodious sound like a cuckoo. In the center of the lotus-filled swamp, The bees fly around, making pleasant sounds. Like this. Ninth, not having: As before, expressing not having. For example: The lips are in the center of the white lotus, The lightning flashes of the tongue shine. The rainbow-like beautiful eyes, Rest on the moon-like face. Like this. Tenth, unequal: Some of the things with limbs and indefinite limbs are depicted as tangible, while others are not. For example: The tone is very pleasant to the ear, Having white pearl-like stamens. The lotus garden of Saraswati's body, Is the place where the nectar of good speech arises. Like this. Eleventh, having characteristics: For some things with virtuous characteristics, there is no fear, while others are pleased.
