The Dharma of 。 The three of base, path, and order, the absence of true existence is the valid proof to be established. Similarly, true establishment is the Dharma to be refuted. The three of base, path, and order, being established as truly existent is what is to be refuted, because of this reason. The second has two parts: stating the sign and establishing the reason. The first is: base, path, and order, the subject, is not true, because it is not established as either the single of true establishment or any of the many of true establishment. The second has two parts: establishing the property of the subject and establishing the pervasion. The first has two parts: establishing separation from the single of truth and establishing separation from the many of truth. The first is: these three, the subject, are not the single of true establishment, because they have parts. For example, a vase. The sign is established, because whatever exists, it is impossible to exist in something without parts. In the latter, if it is thought, it is not in the conditioned, and it is not in the unconditioned. In the former, if it is thought, for example, a person, has the parts of its own upper, lower, and limbs. For example, a vase, has the parts of neck, bottom, etc. For example, time and consciousness, have the parts of past and future moments. In the latter, if it is thought, for example, emptiness, has the Dharma that is the basis of emptiness, and the parts of others' realization and non-realization. For example, space, has the parts of being obstructed and the connection and non-connection of touch, and the pervasion and non-pervasion of large and small holes, and the existence and non-existence of direction. For example, the cessation of truth, has the parts of naturally obtained and not obtained, and the separation and non-separation of the object to be refuted, coarse and subtle. Second, these three, the subject, are not established as the many of true establishment, because there is no single of true establishment. Pervasion, because if there is no single, the many cannot be established. If it is thought, because the many depend on the accumulation of the single to be established. Second, in establishing the root pervasion, if there is neither the single of true establishment nor any of its many, then it is not truly established, because if it is truly established, it must be established as any of them. If it is thought, if it exists, it must exist in either the single or the many. If it is thought, because these two are mutually exclusive and contradictory entities. If it is thought, for what exists, if the single is completely excluded, then the many must be completely excluded. However, if it exists, it exists in either the single or the many, if the pervasion is established as true by a definitive valid cognition, then not being established as either the single or the many of true establishment is a false claim that is not pervasive.

This is not a severance, because the valid cognition that establishes "whatever is made is impermanent" severs the false imputation that "sound is made, but sound is not impermanent." The reason is that such an opponent still needs to sever the false imputation of permanence on that sound. The reason is that he must generate a valid inference that realizes sound is impermanent. Since it is appropriate to establish the lack of inherent existence of a sprout with the reason of dependent origination, the correct refutation is: although relying on similar examples, the valid cognition determines that dependent origination pervades lack of inherent existence, the dharma to be established, namely lack of inherent existence, is not determined by valid cognition. Because that opponent validly determines the property of the subject, dependent origination, and validly determines the pervasion, therefore the inference that determines the dharma to be established does not arise. The reason is that if he has already determined the dharma to be established by valid cognition, then it cannot be a correct refutation. For example, if one refutes in order to establish that a sprout lacks inherent existence, like a Sautrantika or Cittamatrin, then when he determines that the sprout lacks inherent existence, he can no longer be established as a Sautrantika or Cittamatrin. This principle also applies to other cases such as one and many. Although similar examples are validly determined to be without inherent existence, it is not the case that the dharma to be established is pervaded by valid determination, however, if one dharma is validly determined to be without inherent existence, then relying on its function, one can determine that other dharmas are also without inherent existence. As Aryadeva said: "Whatever is the view of one, is the view of all, whatever is the emptiness of one, is the emptiness of all." And "Whoever sees the suchness of one thing, he also sees the suchness of all things." Therefore, if someone asks, what are the "three bases, paths, and results" on which the above argument is based? Some people think that it refers to the three knowledges, but this is not correct. Because "base" refers to the aggregates, elements, and sources, "path" refers to the general antidote path, and "result" refers to the sixteen aspects of impermanence, etc. Third, there is a sequence in the way of generating views: first, by listening to the treatises that explain emptiness, one generates the wisdom of hearing; then, relying on the reasons of one and many, one generates the wisdom of thinking; then, relying on these, one generates the wisdom of meditation that is related to shamatha and vipassana.
