I am the best of the two-legged, and among the two-legged, the Buddha Bhagavan is the best, therefore called the lord or the supreme of the two-legged. I think it is so, so in the ritual of discipline it says "the best of the two-legged is the Buddha" and so on, which seems to summarize the meaning of the sutra. Third is aspiration: it is explained by the texts from "the collection of extremely white virtues that comes from this" onwards, which has two aspects: general aspiration and specific aspiration. First, from the cause of praise, supplication, and offering above, the result that comes from this, the collection of extremely white virtues, whatever I have obtained, by this power, when wandering in samsara for a long time, may I become the protector of all beings who are tormented by countless sufferings and lack happiness. It is called extremely white because it brings benefit. Countless sufferings is a plural term, not just referring to a numerical count. Because there is no uncontaminated happiness, there is a lack of happiness. Protector mainly refers to the ultimate refuge. Second, specific aspirations have four types: aspiring to obtain a special body as a basis, aspiring generally for the basis to have qualities, aspiring to learn the special conduct of a bodhisattva, and aspiring to accomplish the Buddha's pure land and retinue. First, for the time being, before reaching the supreme state of the Sugata, the guide of the world, may I in all lifetimes obtain the special basis of a fully pure renunciate with pure conduct, and awaken the lineage of the supreme vehicle through the desire to attain Buddhahood, great compassion, and the practice of virtue, etc. Not yet reached means not yet obtained. Generally, there are two types of lineage: the lineage of growth and the naturally abiding lineage. The first is all conditioned phenomena in the continuum of beings that can be transformed into Buddhahood, and the second is the dharmata in the continuum of beings that can be transformed into Buddhahood. The meaning of awakening the Mahayana lineage refers to a state of growth before that. There are many signs of lineage awakening, as stated in the Ornament of the Sutras: before practice, there is compassion and

and patience, and genuine joy in virtue, should be known as a sign of lineage. As it is said. Secondly, may I have patience with that basis, be upright and not deceitful, that is, not crooked or wavering, and not be discouraged by thinking "this cannot be accomplished," have faith with great strength and power, respect for practicing the Mahayana Dharma, constantly apply diligence to the way of practice, and attain excellent wisdom. However, not being discouraged and having great strength also belong to the category of diligence. Here, "constantly apply" should be explained as constantly entering, which is also combined with constant diligence. The Lama is, may I, through the power of pure wisdom, realize the profound meaning of the Buddhas' intentions without error, and according to how I have realized it, show it to other sentient beings through skillful means guided by love and great compassion, rely on a virtuous friend who is skilled in all things, and through the power of long study like the ocean of vast learning, cut off all doubts in my own mind, and through properly practicing the meanings I have heard, please the Buddhas. Guided by love means the meaning aroused by love, and doubt means uncertainty about the meaning. May the disciple also not transgress the precepts established by the Teacher, and even after the Teacher has shown the way to Nirvana, still be like he is alive, that is, respect the virtuous friend who is the embodiment or successor of the Teacher, be sharp in the power of wisdom, be free from the faults of doing things in a perverse way with body, speech, and mind, and have a pure and complete retinue. The former is relying on a wise virtuous friend, and the latter is praying to meet good retinue disciples. Conversely, may an unwholesome friend, also be moved by the demonic class belonging to the black side, that is, be controlled by the power of moving or disturbing the mind, hindering the Dharma feast of the Sangha assembly.
