Even with outflows, one cannot obtain what was not previously obtained in all grounds. It is said. Knowable phenomena, in which path, how many wisdoms are obtained? In order to separate from attachment to any lower ground, through the path of application and the path of separation, those who have separated from attachment, when they obtain the path included in the lower ground, also in order to obtain the outflow-free path included in their own ground and the lower ground. One who abides in the knowledge of exhaustion, does not obtain many qualities, because they obtain many outflow-free qualities, and also obtain qualities with outflows, such as meditating on impurity and breathing in and out, as well as mindfulness and the six meditation grounds, and the eleven qualities including the formless absorptions. Moreover, from all grounds, one obtains what was not previously obtained, but what has already been obtained will not be obtained, because what has already been obtained will not be obtained again. Third, the classification of attainment is: attainment and reliance are actions, obtained by virtuous actions. Antidote and prolongation, attainment is with outflows. It is said. Attainment phenomena, you have four, namely, attainment of attainment, attainment of reliance, attainment of antidote, and attainment of prolongation. These have differences, what was not previously newly obtained is the first, from the second moment onwards, what repeatedly manifests is the second. Both of these are attainment by virtuous actions, and the attainment at the time of abandoning what should be abandoned is the third, and the attainment at the time of liberation from what should be abandoned is the fourth, and the attainment of these two is the attainment of phenomena with outflows. There are different ways of explaining the meaning of the latter, because there are also explanations that virtuous phenomena with outflows have four kinds of attainment. These are just examples, virtuous actions have two kinds of attainment, attainment and reliance, phenomena with outflows have two kinds, antidote and prolongation, outflow-free phenomena have two kinds, attainment and reliance, and the attainment of afflictions and unwholesome phenomena have two kinds, antidote and prolongation. Fourth, regarding special qualities, there are two kinds, uncommon qualities and common qualities. The first has three kinds: summary, detailed explanation, and conclusion. The first is: The Buddha's Dharma is unmixed, with the ten powers and so on, thirty-eight. It is said. The Vaibhashikas say: The Buddha's unmixed Dharma

O Possessor of Earth, you have eighteen qualities, namely the ten powers, the four fearlessnesses, and the three mindfulnesses, because you possess great compassion. Another tradition says that there are eighteen qualities, namely six unshared knowledges, six unshared conducts, three unshared activities, and three unshared wisdoms, therefore it is considered to be eighteen. Secondly, there are four: the ten powers, the fearlessnesses, the mindfulnesses, and the great compassion. Firstly, there are two: the power of knowledge and the power of body. Firstly, there are three: their respective nature, where they are located, and the explanation. The first is: "The knowledge of what is and is not is ten, the results of actions are eight meditations, etc., the faculties, inclinations, and elements are nine, the paths are ten, the two are conventional knowledge, exhaustion is six or ten." Thus it is said. The first six powers have the characteristic of being encompassed by ten kinds of knowledge, namely, the power of knowing what is and is not is indeed encompassed by ten kinds of knowledge. The power of knowing the ripening of actions and their results is indeed encompassed by eight kinds of knowledge other than the two knowledges of cessation and path. The knowledge of meditation and so on, the formless liberation, etc., and the knowledge of the superior and inferior faculties and inclinations, the four powers of knowing the various elements are encompassed by nine kinds of knowledge other than the knowledge of cessation. The latter four powers have the characteristic of being encompassed by what kind of knowledge, namely, if they possess the path and its results, then the power of knowing the path that goes everywhere has ten kinds of knowledge, therefore they are encompassed by them, or, in terms of their own nature, they are encompassed by nine kinds of knowledge other than the knowledge of cessation. The two powers of knowing past lives and knowing death and birth are conventional knowledge. The power of knowing the exhaustion of defilements, when only knowing cessation, is encompassed by six, namely, the knowledge of dharma, the knowledge of analogy, the knowledge of cessation, and the knowledge of non-arising, and conventional knowledge, or, at other times, it is encompassed by ten kinds of knowledge. Secondly, it is said: "The power of past lives, death, and birth, in meditation, the rest, in all the realms." Thus it is said. These ten powers have the distinction of being located in what realm, namely, the power of knowing past lives and knowing death and birth is indeed located in the four main bodies of meditation. The remaining eight powers are located between the desire realm and the peak of existence.
