Entering into samadhi, and exhaling, such mindfulness is a phenomenon. It has six characteristics: its essence is wisdom, the support of the mind is the three preparatory stages of meditative concentration, excellent meditative concentration, and the five levels of the desire realm; the object of observation or focus is the wind; the support of the body is the desire realm; the method of attainment is through cultivation; and it proceeds by way of directing the mind to abandon attachment. Outsiders do not meditate on this, because it is unique to insiders. Secondly, the difference in the six methods of meditation is that there are six aspects such as counting. It is said. Inhaling and exhaling are phenomena. It has six characteristics of meditation, namely counting and following, stopping, close attention, complete transformation, complete purification, and six aspects. These have differences. Counting is focusing the mind on the number of times it runs inside and outside. Following is staying in accordance with the movement of exhalation and inhalation, and then stopping is when the wind stays from the tip of the nose to the soles of the feet. Close attention is to separately examine the four elements of wind and the five aggregates. Complete transformation is to focus on the wind and transform the mind, meditating on both calm and insight from top to top, such as mindfulness. Purification is that after meditating in this way, the defilements of the path of seeing and the path of meditation are purified, entering into the path of no more learning, etc. Thirdly, from where does inhaling and exhaling come to have a body? It is called sentient being and is unattainable. From the lower one born from a similar cause. Consciousness cannot understand those two. It is said. Inhaling and exhaling are both phenomena. Wherever the earth body belongs, it belongs there, because it is a part of the body. Those two are phenomena. It has four characteristics: because it belongs to the continuum of sentient beings, it is called sentient being, it cannot be grasped by the root consciousness, it is born from a similar cause earlier, and the consciousness of the lower ground practitioner and the emanation cannot understand these characteristics. Secondly, the method of cultivating higher vision, first is to cultivate mindfulness, then the four dharmas such as warmth, and then the three types of cultivating the sixteen aspects of the realization of the truths. The first is divided into a general explanation and a specific explanation of the four mindfulnesses. The first is, by one who has accomplished calm abiding, one should cultivate mindfulness.

Body, feeling, mind, and all phenomena, are thoroughly examined with two characteristics. Wisdom arises from hearing and so on, while others arise from association and object. The order is like the order of arising, the four antidotes to the four inversions. Thus it is said. Knowable things, a person who has attained tranquility, you should then cultivate insight; that is, you should cultivate mindfulness, because it will accomplish insight. Mindfulness, from the door of the object, there are four, namely, focusing on the body, feeling, mind, and phenomena other than those three, examining and meditating on their own nature, self-characteristic, and the general characteristics of their being made, impermanent, and selfless with two characteristics. That dharma, you have three, namely, the mindfulness of self-nature, the mindfulness of association, and the mindfulness of object, hence there are three. There is a difference between these three, namely, the wisdom that follows the body and so on, arising from hearing and so on, that is, from thinking and meditating, is the first, and the others, the mental events such as feelings that are in accordance with them, are the second, the mindfulness of association, and the mindfulness of object of the two, the mindfulness of self-nature and the mindfulness of association, that is the mindfulness of object. There are four objects, namely, the four that focus on body, feeling, mind, and dharma. Each of them also has three, namely, the three that focus on one's own, others', and both's continuum. There is an order to these four, namely, they are established in accordance with the order of arising. Why? Because the former is coarser and the latter is finer. There is a reason for establishing them as four, namely, the four, such as purity, are successively established as the antidotes to the four inversions of permanence, happiness, self, and purity. Why? Because mindfulness of the body is the antidote to the inversion of clinging to the body as pure, mindfulness of feeling is the antidote to the inversion of clinging to happiness, mindfulness of the mind is the antidote to the inversion of clinging to permanence, and mindfulness of dharma is the antidote to the inversion of clinging to self and happiness. The second is, that is the mindfulness of dharma, abiding in focusing on the general characteristics, contemplating impermanence, suffering, emptiness, and selflessness in them. Thus it is said.
