That which is to be abandoned is the Dharma. You have many, namely, the non-virtues of body and speech such as killing, and the intentions of these are completely entangled, and likewise, the annihilationism of wishing oneself to die quickly, and the seven forms of pride from before, and so on, the desire for birth of wishing oneself to be born like a woman, and the pride of "I am," although they do not manifest before the noble ones, but because they are to be abandoned by cultivation. These do not manifest before the noble ones, because these are increased by afflictive views. Regret of non-virtue also does not manifest before the noble ones, because he has doubt, but doubt is not afflictive. Secondly, distinguishing from the perspective of types, from the perspective of whether or not it is pervasive, from the perspective of whether or not it is focused on the uncontaminated, from the perspective of object and association, from the perspective of non-virtue and neutral, from the perspective of the three times of coarseness, there are five types. The first is: Suffering, cause, seeing what is to be abandoned, views and likewise doubt, whatever is not mixed with it, whatever ignorance is all pervasive. Among these, all focus on the above, except for the two views, whatever arises together with these, is also pervasive, except for attainment. Thus it is said. The five to be abandoned by seeing the truth of suffering, and the views to be abandoned by seeing the truth of the origin of suffering, wrong view and holding views as supreme, two each, likewise, two each of the doubts to be abandoned by seeing the truth of suffering and origin, and the ignorance associated with doubt, and two each of the ignorance not mixed with other root afflictions, that is, the thirty-three that have eleven in the three realms, is the Dharma. It is the equal part pervasive that goes to the five types of abandonment of its own ground, because it increases by focusing on those five types. Nine of those eleven focus on the upper realm, because except for the view of the body and the extreme view, the others focus on it. The mind and mental factors that arise together with those pervasive ones are also Dharma. It is pervasive, because it engages in the same object and aspect as them. The attainment of those pervasive ones is Dharma. Except for the pervasive ones of subtle increase, because you and the pervasive ones have different results. Two

Furthermore, there are two types: those that take the uncontaminated as their object and those that do not. The first is: Cessation and the path to be abandoned by seeing, wrong views, doubt, and those, associated and solely ignorance, these six are the sphere of the uncontaminated. The cessation of one's own ground and the path are mutual causes, the paths of the six and nine grounds are the objects of their sphere. Thus it is said. Wrong views and doubt to be abandoned by cessation and seeing the path, and those and the ignorance associated with them, and the six types of ignorance that are solely unmixed, are the sphere of the uncontaminated, because they take the cessation and path of their own ground as their object. When the path is the object, the objects of the thirty-six wrong views of the desire realm are the four dhyanas and the immediate path and the superior path, that is, the six dhyana grounds and all the paths that are in accordance with the category of knowledge of dharma. When those of the upper realms take the path as their object, they take as their object the paths of the upper realms that are in accordance with the category of subsequent knowledge of the nine grounds from the immediate path up to the peak of existence. The paths of the six and nine grounds are the objects of the sphere of mutual causes of their respective grounds. The second is: Not desire, because it is to be abandoned; not hatred because it does not harm; not pride because it is peaceful, pure, and supreme; it is the holding of superiority. Thus it is said. Desire, you take the uncontaminated cessation and path as your object, because you mainly take the contaminated as your object, therefore you are to be abandoned solely by those who seek liberation. Hatred, you do not take that as your object, because cessation and path are of the nature of not harming, and you are one who thinks of harming. Pride, you also do not take that as your object, because cessation and path are peaceful, and you are of the nature of arrogance. Morally based holding of superiority, you also do not take that as your object, because cessation and path are completely pure, and your ground mainly takes the impure as its object and holds it as superior. View-based holding of superiority, you also do not take the cessation and path as your object, because you hold the inferior as superior, and cessation and path are the most supreme of all dharmas, therefore it is not your sphere. Third, distinguishing from the perspective of object and association.
