Because, etc., in the abandonment by seeing of accumulation and cessation, there are seven others besides the three views of the view of the perishable collection, the view of extremes, and the view of adhering to precepts and vows; in the abandonment by seeing of the path, there are eight others besides the two views of the view of the perishable collection and the view of extremes. The subtle afflictions of the desire realm are abandoned by seeing, because they must be abandoned sequentially by the path of seeing. The second is: The four are to be abandoned by cultivation. It is said. The four, desire, anger, pride, and ignorance, are to be abandoned by the path of cultivation, because they cannot be abandoned merely by seeing the truth, but must be abandoned gradually later. Because the scripture "Those ten, seven, seven, eight" directly points out the abandonment by seeing and directly explains the abandonment by cultivation. If it is abandonment by cultivation, then it is not necessarily the abandonment by cultivation directly indicated here, because the abandonment by cultivation included in the upper realms is not the abandonment by cultivation directly indicated here, because this explains only the abandonment by cultivation of the desire realm. The reason is that there are not those four included in the upper realms. The reason is that there is no anger included in it. The second is: Except for anger, those are the same. The form realm and the formless realm are the same as this. It is said. The subtle afflictions abandoned by cultivation included in the form realm, you have thirty-one each, because there are those thirty-one each except for the five angers, and the formless realm is also the same as this. Therefore, it is considered to be ninety-eight. This is a summary, because it explains the total number of thirty-six in the desire realm and thirty-one in the upper two realms. The three views that wrongly engage with the two, accumulation and cessation, do not arise, because the view of the perishable collection engages by focusing on the aggregates of appropriation, the view of extremes views those aggregates as either permanent or annihilated, and the view of adhering to precepts and vows views the aggregates as liberation, etc., and therefore focuses on the truth of suffering. The abandonment by seeing of the path does not establish the two, the view of the perishable collection and the view of extremes, because those two must focus on the aggregates of appropriation. It also does not establish the view of adhering to precepts and vows, because it engages by focusing on a bad path as a supreme path. The second is: Endurance born from the peak of existence.

What should not be done, seeing is what should be abandoned. The remaining are abandoned by both seeing and meditation. Not destroyed by patience, but only by meditation. Thus it is said. The subtle latent tendencies cannot be eliminated by the path of seeing alone, therefore there are two of them, the subtle latent tendencies to be abandoned by seeing of the four truths of suffering, origin, cessation, and path born from the peak of existence. It is only what should be abandoned by seeing, because it can be subdued by the four, such as the patience with the dharma of suffering. Why? Because those four can abandon you simply by directly seeing the truth. The subtle latent tendencies born from the remainder of the peak of existence, the desire realm, and the higher realms. It is abandoned by both the path of seeing and the path of meditation, when abandoning the past path, it is abandoned by the path of seeing, and there are also those who are abandoned by the path of meditation of ordinary worldly beings. The four non-seeing dharmas that cannot be subdued by the patience of the path of seeing. It is only what should be abandoned by meditation, because it is abandoned by the worldly path of meditation and the past path of meditation as appropriate. There is a difference, the former cannot abandon that of the peak of existence, and the latter can abandon everything. Among the two, there are two explanations of view and pride. In the first, there are two: reality and cutting off doubts. The first is: Self and what belongs to self, permanence and annihilation, name and seeing the inferior as superior, seeing what is not a cause as the path. These are the five views. Thus it is said. This has two aspects: the meaning of the words and the marginal examination. The first is: Those evil views. You have five, the wisdom afflicted with clinging to the aggregates and seeing self and what belongs to self, is the view of the perishable. Taking that as a basis and seeing either permanence or annihilation, the wisdom afflicted with that is the extreme view. The wisdom afflicted with seeing things like cause and effect as non-existent is the wrong view. Taking inferior views as a basis and holding purification and the means of liberation as supreme is the view of holding views as supreme. Seeing what is not a cause of the environment and beings, such as power, and what is not a path, such as bad conduct, as the cause and path is the view of holding morality and asceticism as supreme. In the second marginal examination, some say: If it is the view of holding morality and asceticism as supreme, then is it pervasive that it is the view of holding both of them as supreme? The dharma of evil view that only holds bad morality as supreme.
