and sleep. Possessing both, bliss and purity, arrogance and equanimity are universally present. The other four are the same as the five. Thus it is said. Which feelings do the near afflictions correspond with? Regret, jealousy, anger, vexation, resentment, and spite, these six correspond with the unpleasant companion. Stinginess is the opposite of that, corresponding with pleasantness. Deceit, trickery, concealment, and sleep, these four sometimes correspond with either pleasantness or unpleasantness. Contemplation, the third dhyana and below, corresponds with pleasantness. The third dhyana corresponds with the faculty of pleasure and arrogance. The feeling of equanimity is universally present in all three realms. The other four, shamelessness, lack of embarrassment, agitation, and torpor, correspond with the five feelings. Fourth, the five obscurations are: the obscurations of desire are incompatible, because food and action are the same. The combination of two is an obstacle, doubt is the fifth. Thus it is said. It is said in the sutras that there are five obscurations: desire, malice, sleep and torpor, agitation and regret, and doubt, the five afflictions. Sleep and torpor are considered here as one type of obscuration. Agitation and regret are also considered as one, the reason being that their antidotes, food, and actions are the same. These three are the same for sleep and torpor: the specific antidote for the two is the perception of light. The four foods, ignorance, displeasure, torpor, and immoderate eating, are also the same. The action is also the same, being disheartened. These three are also the same for agitation and regret: the antidote is calm abiding. The food is: remembering past laughter and play, etc., and conceptualizing, is also the same. The action is also the same, causing the mind to be unpacified. Among the five obscurations, the three antidotes, etc., for desire, etc., are each different: the antidote for desire is ugliness, the food is the sign of ugliness. The antidote for malice is loving-kindness, the food is anger. The antidote for doubt is understanding dependent origination, the food is the three times, and the actions are, in order, increasing existence, causing the mind to be unpacified, and not being in accordance with reality.

It is because it is like realization. The reason for establishing the five obscurations is: desire and hatred both harm the aggregate of morality, sleep and drowsiness both harm wisdom, agitation and regret both harm the arising of samadhi, and doubt alone is established from the perspective that it can harm these three. Second, explaining the antidote that eliminates, what antidote eliminates what is to be eliminated, the classification of antidotes, the antidote for lengthening the distance, and the explanation of the antidote of the basis, etc., are fourfold. The first is: By the antidote, one knows completely, And correctly focuses on that, By food and antidote, one abandons, When the antidote arises, it is exhausted. It says so. These afflictions have a way of being abandoned. By focusing on the four truths, one abandons through complete knowledge, and by correctly abandoning the action of focusing on that, it is exhausted, and by abandoning through the way of abandoning that focus, and when the antidote arises, it is exhausted, etc., because these exist. The second is: The four antidotes abandon and, The basis and self are distinct, Reproach is called from the antidote, Afflictions are thought to be abandoned. It says so. The antidote to afflictions, you have four types, namely the antidote of abandonment, the antidote of the basis, the antidote of lengthening the distance, and the antidote of distinct reproach, etc., because these exist. Afflictions, relying on what, is there a way of abandoning? Regarding the object, from knowing that the place of attachment to inverted clinging does not exist in any object, it is thought to be abandoned. The difference between the four antidotes is that the initial paths of no interval are the antidotes of abandoning the antidote, the liberation above the forbearance of the suffering dharma and the path of no interval are the antidotes of the basis, above and including everything except the knowledge of the suffering dharma is the antidote of lengthening the distance, and the path of abandoning that affliction by seeing faults in any realm is established as the antidote of reproach. The third and fourth are: Characteristics disagree, disagree direction, Object separate, cut off and by time, etc., Arising and discipline, direction and, Two times long, like this, etc., Once exhausted, those are, Separation's attainment again and again, Antidote arising and fruit attainment and.
