The first point is established because it is necessary to be of the same type, like what is abandoned by seeing and what is abandoned by meditation. The second point is established because the afflictions not included in each of the three realms act as the causes of similar divisions of later afflictions included in their respective realms. For example, what is abandoned by seeing in the desire realm does not cause what is abandoned by seeing in the higher realms, and so on. The third point is established because what is born before that result acts as the cause of similar divisions for what is born later and what is not born, but what is simultaneous does not do that. The second is: The paths of the nine grounds are mutually, the same and different. Arising from application is only those two, arising from hearing and thinking, etc. Thus it is said. What was said above about needing one ground refers to the division of afflictions; for the uncontaminated, it is not necessarily so, because the paths that rely on the nine uncontaminated grounds are mutually the same and cause differences. Because the truths of the path are mutually equal in height and lowness and cause similar divisions of the higher realms. Moreover, the mundane path arising from application, the virtuous actions with outflows, only those two cause the similar divisions of sameness and difference, because those arising from hearing and thinking, that is, those arising from meditation, do so. Because although there is no meditation-born included in the desire realm, the previous hearing-born and thinking-born cause the later similar division. Although there is no thinking-born in the form realm, the previous hearing-born and meditation-born cause the later similar division. In the formless realm, the previous meditation-born causes that cause for the later. Here, there is a limit to the establishment of meditation-born, because it is established from the attainment of calm abiding. The fourth is the concomitant cause: The concomitant cause is the mind and, mental events with the same basis. Thus it is said. The concomitant cause, you have a way of establishing it, because the minds and mental events that are similar, relying on a single uncommon dominant condition, are mutually established as cause and effect. Because those are cause and effect where one does not arise without the other. The Vaibhashikas want to consider this as the nature of cause and effect, but other schools consider it to be imputed. Fifth is the pervasive

Regarding causes: It is said in the scripture, "The afflictions called pervasive, the five pervasive ones of their respective grounds." The cause of pervasiveness has a way of being established, because there are two types of causes of pervasiveness: the cause of pervasiveness of afflictions and afflicted ones that are the same as oneself, of the same kind, and on the same ground, and the cause of pervasiveness of afflictions and afflicted ones that are not the same as oneself. There are five pervasive ones because they act on the five, such as feeling and perception. The sixth, the cause of maturation, is: It is said in the scripture, "The cause of maturation is only non-virtue and contaminated virtue." The cause of maturation has a way of being established, because only non-virtue and contaminated virtue, which produce maturation, are established there. Those two are the cause of maturation because their essence is powerful and they possess the moisture of craving. Undetermined phenomena are not the cause of maturation because, although they possess the moisture of craving, their essence is not powerful. Uncontaminated virtues are not the cause of maturation because, although their essence is powerful, they do not possess the moisture of craving. There is also the meaning of maturation because maturation, that is, maturing in a differentiated and dissimilar way, is the meaning of that word. The third, summarizing the meaning, is: It is said in the scripture, "Pervasive and similar causes are of two times, those three are of three times." The cause of pervasiveness and similarity is of two times because the past acts as the cause of the present, and the present acts as the cause of the future. The three causes of co-emergence, association, and maturation are of three times because the past, present, and future produce the future. Here, to explain a little with general meaning, in general, there is no contradiction within the six causes because if it is a cause, it is necessarily a causative cause. If combined with the basis, there are many contradictions. If the mind born of maturation is the cause of its maturation, then the associated and co-emergent causes of that mind must not be, because the associated and co-emergent causes of that are simultaneous with it, and the cause of its maturation occurred earlier. Any of the pervasive and similar causes of that is also not the co-emergent cause of that mind, because that
