The thirteen necessities of life are: the patched robe, the upper garment, the inner garment, the lower garment, the lining of the lower garment, the dust cloth, the lining of the dust cloth, the face cloth, the pus cloth, the itch cover, the comb, the cushion, and the large summer cloth. The patched robe means cutting and sewing together small pieces of cloth. The "upper" of the upper garment means the upper garment or the upper body garment. The "inner" of the inner garment means the inner, that is, the inner garment or the lower body garment. The patched robe has three types: superior, medium, and inferior. Each of these can be divided into three, making a total of nine.
