The way the "I" that has become an object arises in name is: Sentient beings constantly fixate on the "I" with me as the object of focus, and from this arises a strong clinging to self. Inwardly and outwardly, whatever is the object of enjoyment that belongs to that self, the thought of clinging to it as "mine" arises. That self is actually an unexamined worldly convention, a product of ignorance, and is not established by its own nature. The second point is: Knowable things, the "mine" that has its own nature does not exist, because the "I" itself does not exist in its own nature. This is pervasive, just as without a potter there is no pottery. If a yogi observes and becomes accustomed to the emptiness of "I" and "mine" in their own nature, then he will be liberated from samsara, because he directly realizes that the object of clinging to self, which is the root of samsara, is empty, that is, he directly realizes that "I" and "mine" have no self-nature. The third part is divided into three points: comparing with things like phelma, comparing with cause and effect things, and refuting the debate on this. The first point is: The method of analyzing wood should also be applied to other things. That is to say, for things like bottles, phelma, tents, armies, forests, garlands, trees, houses, small carts, and inns, if they are not found when searching in seven ways like analyzing a cart, but are established according to worldly convention without analysis. Similarly, for these things, what kind of names, terms, and concepts people use to call them, should also be understood like analyzing a cart. Because, the King of Sages has said that he does not argue with the world, and does not contradict the world. As it says in the Ratnakuta Sutra: "The world argues with me, but I do not argue with the world." How do worldly people establish names for things? For example, a bottle has parts, fragments etc. are its parts; a bottle has qualities, blue etc. are its qualities; the person who is the basis of desire is the desirer, and he

Attachment is the particular craving for any place, a pot is the basis or symbol of a name, bloating of the stomach etc. are characteristics, and a fire maker and firewood to be burned etc. are dependent on parts to have a whole, and dependent on the whole to have parts. Therefore, the way those things exist is not in seven ways, as was done before in analyzing a chariot. Because it exists by way of worldly convention, other than that which is analyzed. Secondly, not only do the whole and the parts depend on each other to be established, but also cause and effect depend on each other to be established. How so? If the cause produces the effect, then the producer is the cause and is established dependently. If the cause does not produce the effect, then there is no production, and the effect becomes causeless. If the effect has a cause, then it arises in dependence on that cause. From which cause does which effect arise? Tell me, which of the two, cause or effect, arises first? It is unreasonable for a cause to be prior for that which is established by its own nature, because at the time of the cause, its object of dependence, the effect, must also exist. An earlier effect is unreasonable, because the effect would be causeless. If the cause produces the effect by its own nature, does the cause produce the effect by meeting with the effect or without meeting? If, according to your view, the cause produces the effect by meeting with the effect, then the cause and effect have the same power, because that commitment is reasonable. If you admit it, then the producing cause and the produced effect become one without difference, because of that admission. According to the second case (not meeting), then the cause of the effect becomes no different from those that are not its cause and whether or not they are producers, because cause and effect arise by their own nature without meeting separately. A cause established by its own nature does not produce an effect, because having abandoned these two distinctions of meeting or not meeting of the producer and the produced, there is no other third distinction.
