Because being established like that would not be contradictory. A person who has eliminated attachment to one's own side and hatred towards the other side, and who analyzes with reason, is the subject of the proposition. You should quickly be liberated from the bonds of extremism and samsara, is what should be established. The thought that is attached to one's own view and similarly disgusted with the views of others is precisely the conceptualization that binds samsara. Because you have entered into the meaning of suchness without bias. Up to here, the selflessness of phenomena has been mainly explained. Second, there are three ways to establish the selflessness of persons through reasoning: Explaining that those who desire liberation must first refute the self-established self; how to refute the self-establishment of both self and what belongs to self; explaining that the analysis of self and chariot can also be compared to other things. The first has two parts: the meaning of the words and the general meaning. First, the yogi who desires liberation is the subject of the proposition. You should refute that the object of innate ego-grasping, the self, is self-established, because all the faults of afflictions such as attachment and suffering such as birth and death are all produced from their own cause - the view of the collection of evils that grasps at self and what belongs to self, and have been seen by wisdom, and having realized that the self is the object of this view of the collection of evils, therefore it should be refuted as if grasping it. Second, the view of the collection of evils that grasps at self and what belongs to self is the root of samsara, because all the afflictions such as attachment and the decay of samsara such as birth and death all arise depending on these two views of the collection of evils, and if these two disappear, everything else will also disappear, and if they do not disappear, they will not disappear, following along and ceasing together. As it says in the Compendium of Trainings: "The emptiness of persons is thus very well established. Therefore, with the root cut off, all afflictions will not arise at all." The Secret Sutra of the Blessed Thus-Gone One says: "Peaceful wisdom, for example, if a tree is cut from its roots, all the branches, leaves, and small twigs will wither. Peaceful wisdom, if the view of the collection of evils is pacified, all afflictions and near afflictions will be pacified." Because it is thus proclaimed that ignorance is the root of samsara.

And it is not contradictory to say that the view of the perishable aggregate is the root of samsara. Because there are not two different ways of grasping the root of samsara, but it is not contradictory to establish two similar ways of grasping. Because the ignorance that grasps phenomena and persons as self-established is the same as the previously mentioned view of the perishable aggregate in that they both grasp the appearance of self-establishment. The ignorance and view of the perishable aggregate that are the root of samsara are not imputed, because they are both coemergent. It is clear that the coarse view of the perishable aggregate accepted by the lower schools of thought is not the root of samsara. If it were, then it would be unavoidable to have the fault of two different ways of grasping the root of samsara. The ignorance that is ignorant of the law of cause and effect is also not the root of samsara, because it does not directly contradict the wisdom that realizes selflessness in the way it grasps. Just the thought of "I am" does not become self-grasping, because the lineage of the Buddhas and noble ones also has the thought of "I am". Because their lineage has thoughts such as "my shravaka", "my dharma robe", and that is indeed "I". Second, there are two divisions: refuting the self as self-established, and refuting the self as self-established. First, there are six divisions: refuting the self as different in essence from the aggregates imputed by other schools, refuting the self as the aggregates themselves imputed by our own school, refuting the remaining three aspects of these two, such as the dependent and the depended upon, refuting the real person who cannot be said to be "that" or "this", illustrating with examples that the self is merely imputed in dependence, and the benefit of easily abandoning extreme clinging after such an establishment. First, there are two divisions: stating the former position and refuting it. First, there are two divisions: stating the view of the Samkhya school and stating the view of the Vaisheshika school. First, there are two divisions: the meaning of the words and the general meaning. The first is: the way in which the non-Buddhists accept the self is that they all agree that the self has three characteristics: permanence, indivisibility, and the ability to freely control the aggregates. In particular, the Samkhya non-Buddhists believe that the self is the enjoyer of pleasure and pain, is permanent, is not the agent of change, and is atom, darkness, essence.
