Therefore, the teacher Buddha declared that all dharmas are peaceful from the beginning, their nature is free from birth, and their nature is completely liberated from suffering. Therefore, this is necessarily so. As stated in the "Cloud of Jewels Sutra": "When turning the wheel of Dharma, from the beginning it is peaceful and unborn, its nature is liberated from suffering, these dharmas are what the protector has taught." Therefore, if we summarize its meaning, it is like this: all dharmas from the beginning, that is, from the very beginning, their nature is unborn, that is the realm of wisdom and peace. The essence of such unborn reality is without the defilement of all afflictions and is completely pure. Because this is the meaning. Things, although they do not exist in the ultimate truth, they exist in the conventional language of the world, therefore they will not become the same as the child of a barren woman. Because these things like pots do not exist in the ultimate truth, but exist as they are commonly known in the world. This is pervasive, and so are all things. Because it is changing, it is the same. Things, which are the subject, arise depending on their own causes and conditions, this is necessarily so. Because, even if they arise, they do not arise from causelessness, the cause of Ishvara, etc., and time and nature, the son of a desireless woman, etc., and self, other, and both, as previously stated. Therefore, there is no dharma that is established without dependence. As stated in the "Root Wisdom Sutra": "The agent depends on the action, and the action also depends on the agent. Apart from arising in dependence, no cause for establishment is seen." And "Because there is no dharma that is not dependently originated, therefore there is no dharma that is not empty." Because it is said so. Because through this reasoning, that is, recognizing dependent origination as 'the result arises depending on this cause', the subject, is able to cut off all nets of wrong views such as viewing arising from the four extremes. What is the reason? Because things arise dependently, they are able to establish their own nature, but if one examines them as held by the clinging thoughts of holding onto arising from the four extremes, one cannot.

Because of that ability. The Teacher said that it is not born of its own nature because of the reason of arising dependently. As asked by Ajatashatru: "Whatever is born from conditions is unborn. It does not have the nature of being born. Whatever depends on conditions is said to be empty. Whoever knows emptiness is mindful." Thus it is said. In the Sixty Stanzas on Reasoning, it is said: "Whatever arises depending on this and that, does not arise there as its own essence. Whatever does not arise as its own essence, how can that be said to be born?" Therefore, in the Root Wisdom, it is also said: "Whatever is dependent arising, that is said to be emptiness. That is a designation made dependently, that is the Middle Way." Therefore, conceptualizations of clinging to extremes have the nature of phenomena. From what do they arise? Because if one holds that things are established by their own nature, they will arise. These conceptualizations have the nature of phenomena. They do not arise without holding that things are established by their own nature, because they do not arise without a cause. For example, without the cause of firewood, there is no result of fire, just like that. The fourth is: Like this, there is a result of analyzing with intelligence. Whatever clinging to extreme conceptualizations that have turned out to be wrong, that itself is said by the wise to be the result of discriminating with intelligence. Because ordinary beings are bound by conceptualizations of clinging to extremes, and having understood the nature of reality, they turn to the opposite, and noble yogis who do not conceptualize are liberated. Knowable things have the nature of phenomena. It is necessary for the noble ones to do many intellectual analyses in the Madhyamaka treatises. That is not done because of attachment to debate, but thinking, "How wonderful it would be if beings could attain liberation!" In order to liberate them, therefore, the treatises well explain that very reality. Someone says: Because it harms other treatises, it is faulty. If the meaning of that very reality is explained, and the fabrications of other treatises are destroyed, then we are not at fault. The Four Hundred Stanzas say: "This Dharma was not spoken by the Tathagatas for the sake of making disputes. However, just as fire burns wood, this burns the opponents of others." Thus it is said.
