The intermediate ones, namely the Shravaka Pratyekabuddha Arhats, are things that are. They are born from the Thus-Gone One, because he taught the profound Dharma of dependent origination, and through hearing, contemplating, and meditating on these three, they attained the enlightenment they desired, and therefore it is established that they are born from him. Secondly, if the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas are born from the Thus-Gone One, then what are the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas? And how are they born? For individuals of the Lesser and Middle Vehicles who primarily seek the quiescence of all suffering, Nirvana, for their own benefit, they are called Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas respectively. The reason why the first are called Shravakas is because they hear the Thus-Gone One teaching the profound reality of dependent origination, and those who seek its meaning hear it, so they are called that. The reason why they are called "hearers and proclaimers" is because they hear the Thus-Gone One teaching the Great Vehicle path with its fruits, and proclaim it to other disciples of the Great Vehicle lineage, so they are called that. As it is said in the Lotus Sutra: "Protector, we have become Shravakas today, and will proclaim the supreme enlightenment, and will also greatly proclaim the sound of enlightenment, therefore we are like inexhaustible Shravakas." Because it is said so. Here, it is understood that "Sarvaka" can refer to both Shravakas and hearers and proclaimers. Even so, Bodhisattvas do not become Shravakas, because for Bodhisattvas, the term "hearer and proclaimer" is a nominal designation, while for Shravakas, the term is real. Pratyekabuddhas, things that are. You have the reason for being called the intermediate Buddha, that is, the intermediate one who realizes reality, because you are a person of the middle vehicle who is lower than the Buddha and higher than the Shravaka, and who possesses the realization of understanding reality, so you are called that. Here, translating it as "intermediate Buddha" is a bit inappropriate. Generally, the word "Buddha" has many meanings such as awakening, lotus blooming, waking up, understanding, etc., but here it is related to reality, so it should be translated as abiding in the meaning of the intermediate one who understands reality, and it is not appropriate to translate it as something else. Just like that, here, the Shravaka is the

It seems that a translation such as "Born from the Powerful Sage in the Middle" has been obtained. Therefore, a Pratyekabuddha is also called a self-enlightened Buddha, because in their final lifetime, they realize enlightenment on their own without relying on the teachings of other teachers. Thirdly, some say: Because many Shravaka disciples, through the profound Dharma of dependent origination taught by the Powerful Sage, practice listening, contemplating, and meditating, and thereby attain their own enlightenment, it is reasonable that Shravaka Arhats are born from the Powerful Sage. However, when Pratyekabuddhas practice listening, contemplating, and meditating in this way, they do not attain their own enlightenment thereby. Therefore, it is unreasonable that Pratyekabuddha Arhats are born from the Powerful Sage. Answer: There is no fault. Because even though Pratyekabuddhas do not attain their own enlightenment in that lifetime, they will attain it in other lifetimes by relying on listening, contemplating, and meditating. This is also because a person who has accumulated karma that is certain to ripen, even if they do not experience the result of that karma in that lifetime, will experience it in other lifetimes. As it is said in the Four Hundred Verses: "If by knowing that nature, one does not attain cessation here, like karma in another life, one will surely attain it without effort." And as it is said in the Root Wisdom: "When the Buddhas have not appeared, and the Shravakas have also ceased, the wisdom of the Pratyekabuddhas arises independently." Therefore. Some say, if it is a Shravaka, then it is pervaded by having the etymology of Shravaka. If you say that, then the Shravaka of the Formless Realm, the subject, should have that fault, because of that reason. If you accept, then there should be sound in the Formless Realm. Because of accepting. If you accept, then it should be unreasonable. Because that is the Formless Realm. Furthermore, that is not pervasive. If the term "ocean-born" applies, then because there is no etymology for that term, it is not pervasive. There should be that fault, because although the term "ocean-born" applies to a lotus that grows on dry land, there is no etymology for it. Some say, if the etymology of Shravaka exists, then it is pervaded by the application of that term. If you say that, then the Bodhisattva who has the etymology of Shravaka, the subject, should have that fault. Because of that reason. Should have that fault. Because of the subject. That should have that fault. Because that exists. Should have that fault. Because (the scripture) says, "Protector, we have become Shravakas today." If you accept, then that should become a Shravaka. He says: That has the application of the term Shravaka.
