of dedication, and the dedication equal to the merit of placing the sentient beings of the three thousand worlds in the ten virtues is small, and the merit of placing them in the stream-enterer is medium, and the dedication of the great merit of placing them on the path to Buddhahood exists. Among these, which has more merit? The latter three are the nature of great merit. This dedication meditation path is established through the method of dedicating virtuous roots, because it is established through the method of dedicating virtuous roots to perfect enlightenment. This also appears in the post-attainment, because the activity of dedication and aspiration must be performed in the post-attainment. Although the Bodhisattva meditator must dedicate the virtuous roots of his own mind-stream to perfect enlightenment, he does not only dedicate to this, because he dedicates to place all sentient beings in temporary and ultimate benefit and happiness. He also dedicates the virtuous roots of others to perfect enlightenment, but it is difficult to establish that the virtuous roots have been used to dedicate to perfect enlightenment by this alone, otherwise, all the virtuous roots of Hearers and Solitary Realizers will also become the fault of virtuous roots dedicated to perfect enlightenment. There is a special need to dedicate virtuous roots to perfect enlightenment, because it is for the sake of inexhaustibility and the arising of great merit, as it is said: Just as a drop of water falls into the great ocean, it will not be exhausted until Bodhi is attained. Third, the meditation path of rejoicing: with skillful means and non-attachment, etc., until it is said here that it is meditation. The meaning is: In the mind-stream of the Bodhisattva meditator, the Dharma of the meditation path of rejoicing in the virtuous roots of oneself and others, you are the path of meditation of rejoicing in mindfulness, it is declared here, because the skillful means of truly knowing virtuous roots as illusory and dreamlike, and the wisdom of knowing that they are not attached to ultimate truth, the Dharma of the meditation path of rejoicing in the virtuous roots of oneself and others, you are the subsequent direct perception. This meditation path of rejoicing also appears in the post-attainment, because the virtuous

Because knowing the method of practice and subsequently rejoicing arises from the post-attainment state. If one rejoices in any good deeds, such as the virtues of oneself and others, great benefits will arise. As it is said in the Compendium: 'The measure of Mount Meru in three thousand worlds can be taken by weighing it, but the merit of rejoicing is not like that.' Therefore, the second is the explanation of the uncontaminated path of meditation, which is divided into two: the practice of meditation and the explanation of pure meditation. The first is: 'Its nature is supreme,' up to 'Establishing is of great meaning.' The meaning is: Practice meditation, in terms of the Dharma, you have five aspects from the opposite perspective, namely, the nature of the practice of meditation that directly realizes the reality of forms and so on without error; the supreme method by which giving and so on, which are not grasped by special means, do not attain Buddhahood, while those skilled in means attain it; realizing that all dharmas are without truth, therefore not clinging to all appearances as real; being able to establish special enlightenment (qualities) on the absence of objects of all dharmas; and ultimately being able to attain Buddhahood, therefore accomplishing great meaning. Therefore, both the practice of meditation and the pure meditation that will be explained arise in the state of equipoise. And what is directly revealed here is mainly based on the direct realization of emptiness. In general, these two paths of meditation do not encompass the realization of emptiness, because the Mahayana path of meditation that directly realizes the selflessness of the person is one of the two. Practice meditation is mainly to leave an imprint on ultimate realization, because the wisdom that directly realizes selflessness is the wisdom of the Bodhisattva who ultimately achieves it. Pure meditation is mainly to leave an imprint on ultimate abandonment, because the ultimate abandonment of abandoning the two self-grasps is the achievement of special wisdom. However, these two do not abide in the category of achievement and leaving an imprint, because they abide in the category of leaving an imprint of partial realization and partial abandonment, because they are
