Now, explaining the abandonment of the path of application, it is expounded from "By the base and its antidote" to "Likewise, the aggregates and other supports." The meaning is: Knowable phenomena, have what is to be abandoned by the Mahayana path of application, because there are four conceptualizations of grasping and grasper that are obscurations to knowledge. Among these, the grasped conceptualization has two aspects: based on the side of the afflictions that are the basis of all defilements, and based on the side of its antidote, there is such a distinction. These two each have nine aspects due to the distinctions of being fixated on ignorance, impermanence, aggregates, and so on. The grasping conceptualization is also considered to be of two types, namely, distinguished by beings and the support of imputed individuals. These two each have nine aspects, because they exist in the same way when fixated on the nature of a self that is independent, and on the support of aggregates and so on. There is a difference between these earlier and later four, namely, the truth-grasping that grasps as truly existent the objects of enjoyment or knowledge, focusing on the phenomena of the afflicted side to be abandoned, is the affliction-grasping conceptualization that is an obscuration to knowledge; the truth-grasping that grasps as truly existent the objects of enjoyment or knowledge, focusing on the phenomena of the purified side of the antidote, is the purified-grasping conceptualization that is an obscuration to knowledge; the truth-grasping that grasps as truly existent the objects of enjoyment as knowable, focusing on the phenomena of substantial existence, is the substantial-grasping conceptualization that is an obscuration to knowledge; the truth-grasping that grasps as permanent the objects of enjoyment as knowable, focusing on the phenomena of permanence, is considered to be the permanent-grasping conceptualization that is an obscuration to knowledge. Each of these also has two aspects, namely, the conceptually arisen and the innate. Here, the conceptually arisen is emphasized as the main point, because the innate functions in the fifth stage. Now, the upholding of the Mahayana path of application is to be explained, from "Not being afraid of the mind, etc." to "In all aspects, it is upholding." The meaning is: the skillful means of not being afraid or frightened of profound emptiness, and abandoning the opposing aspects of the Hearer and Solitary Realizer's mental activity and various kinds of clinging to truth,

The wisdom of the Bodhisattva Practice Path is a dharma. In all circumstances, it is the complete protector within the Bodhisattva Practice Path, because it is the wisdom that prevents one from falling into either samsara or nirvana. For those on the Bodhisattva Practice Path, it reveals that all dharmas are without inherent existence in the ultimate truth, and it is the supreme manifestation that has abandoned aspects that are incompatible with it. It is the external complete protector of the Bodhisattva Practice Path, because it is the virtuous friend who fully reveals skillful means and wisdom to it. Fourth, when explaining the nature of the support for accomplishing the Great Vehicle, the inherent abiding lineage, it is said in the scripture: "The six dharmas of realization, and, the support for entering, should be known as lineage." The meaning of the words is: the four stages of heat, etc., of the Great Vehicle Practice Path, and the two paths of seeing and meditation of the Great Vehicle, namely the six dharmas of realization. And the arising of the antidote's uninterrupted path, eliminating by way of manifesting inclination, and eliminating by way of manifesting inclination in the manner of the seed being extinguished, and completely exhausting these to be eliminated, namely the Exhaustion of All Liberation Path, and the wisdom and compassion that can prevent the extremes of samsara and nirvana, and the nature of being uncommon with disciples such as Hearers, and accomplishing the order of benefiting others, and diligently working with wisdom on all that exists and as it exists, abandoning grossness. The support of the wisdom of entering without abiding, these thirteen dharmic qualities, are dharmas. You are called lineage, because the practice of the Great Vehicle is practiced by focusing on oneself, therefore it is the lineage that can increase realization. These have differences in their boundaries, the six dharmas of realization are as before, and the antidote and elimination, as such, for the two paths of seeing and meditation of the Great Vehicle, the antidote's uninterrupted path and the elimination's uninterrupted path are divided into two and shown by the way of what is to be eliminated and the way of eliminating. These completely exhausting, etc., as it is said, the path of liberation of these two is combined into one, namely those below the seventh ground, and those with wisdom and compassion combined, namely those on the eighth ground, and those uncommon with disciples, namely those on the ninth ground, and those who accomplish benefiting others in order, and those who do not abide in diligent wisdom, both are combined with the tenth ground. This is also because consideration is given to the direct display here. When explaining the elimination of disputes about lineage, because there is no difference in the realm of dharma.
