When sleeping or waking, whatever wisdom has a clear appearance, that is also both non-conceptual. Therefore, no matter what the meaning of inverted or not inverted is, as long as it is repeatedly practiced in the mind, and a clear appearance arises, it will become non-conceptual. As it is said in the Pramāṇavārttika: Impure, exhausted, earth, etc., for the practice of the unreal, by its power, it manifests as non-conceptual, and appears clearly visible. Therefore, whether real or not, whatever is thoroughly practiced, when the habit is perfected, that will be the fruit of clear, non-conceptual wisdom. Therefore, there are two ways of explaining from the Abhisamaya-agama: the way of explaining from the Abhisamayālaṃkāra and the way of explaining from the Abhidharmakośa. The first is divided into two: general exposition and separate explanation. The first is divided into two: main mind and mental factors. The first is: the main consciousness established from the aspect of holding the nature of its own object is the definition of the main mind. Main mind, mind, intellect, and consciousness are synonymous with the same meaning. If divided from the perspective of nature, there are six types from eye consciousness to mind consciousness. If summarized, they can be classified into two types: sense consciousness and mind consciousness. The intellect that holds various distinctions of its own object and arises as a retinue of any main mind is the definition of mental factors. Its classification will be explained later. Such a definition is reasonable, because Maitreya in the Madhyāntavibhāga says: Here, seeing meaning is consciousness, its distinction arises from the mind. Therefore, the main mind and the mental factors that are its retinue have the same nature but different functions. Asanga in the Compendium says: Although there is a clear obstacle at one time, the differences in minds, all continuums, are seen as different, therefore, the establishment of different aspects is established. Therefore, and Gyaltsap Je in the Ornament of the Essence of Commentary says: Saying that mind and mental factors are different entities, if it is contradictory, then whatever is pervaded by different entities, even Brahma cannot establish. Also, Khedrup Je in the Seven Lights says: Therefore, the holy brothers Asanga and Vasubandhu and the two lords of reasoning, etc., mostly consider the main mind and its retinue mental factors to be of the same entity.

In the Ornament of Reasoning, General Meaning of the Compendium, it says, "The primary conceptualization that exists in the continuum of a single individual and the mental factors that arise around it are of the same essence but different aspects." Therefore, the mind and the mental factors that occur around it have five corresponding similarities to each other, namely, the same basis, object, aspect, time, and substance. The primary mind relies on whatever faculty, the surrounding mental factors also rely on that. The primary mind arises relying on whatever object, the surrounding mental factors also arise. As the aspect of whatever object appears to the primary mind, the same aspect appears to the surrounding mental factors. The primary mind arises at whatever time, the surrounding mental factors also arise simultaneously. The primary mind and the surrounding mental factors arise distinguished by the same type of substance; they do not arise as different types of substances. As it says in the Treasury [Abhidharmakosha], "Mind and mental factors with one object, possess five aspects in common." Therefore, mental factors are divided into fifty-one: five omnipresent, five object-determining, eleven virtuous, six root afflictions, twenty secondary afflictions, and four variable. First, there are five omnipresent ones: feeling (vedanā), discrimination (saṃjñā), intention (cetanā), contact (sparśa), and attention (manaskāra), and consciousness (vijñāna). These five go around all minds, so they are called omnipresent. If any one of these five is missing, the enjoyment of the object is not complete. Without feeling, there would be no experience of pleasure, pain, etc.; without discrimination, there would be no imputation of names, etc.; without intention, there would be no engagement with the object; without attention, the mind would not focus on the object; without contact, feelings of pleasure, pain, etc., would not arise. However, it is not necessary for them to be manifest; in the case of subtle dying consciousness, the moment of joining rebirth, and entering into cessation, some feelings, etc., are only present in a latent manner. Secondly, there are five object-determining ones: aspiration (chanda), conviction (adhimokṣa), mindfulness (smṛti), concentration (samādhi), and wisdom (prajñā). These five are definite on their respective objects, so they are called object-determining. Aspiration desires the object and seeks its meaning; conviction engages in delighting in it; mindfulness holds the object and aspect; concentration abides in one-pointedness; wisdom
