This is because the appearing objects of conceptual thought are unconditioned. In particular, the appearances of people, horses, cattle, etc., in dreams, and the appearances of consciousness when contemplating ugliness, etc., are known as the imputed form or the form of the dharma-sphere. As it says in the Seventy Stanzas on Emptiness: 'That which is only consciousness is the form of the dharma-sphere that has become an object. Among them is the imputed form. The mind that meditates on ugliness, where the ground appears filled with skeletons, is also similar to this.' Furthermore, does the eye-consciousness that apprehends a vase see the particles of the vase's form, or does it not see them? If it sees them, then it would follow that it also sees the particles inside the vase. If it does not see them, that is not reasonable, because sense consciousness engages with objects. As it says in the Commentary on Valid Cognition: 'Because seeing an object, one sees all qualities.' Therefore, there is no fault, because the sense-direct perception that apprehends a vase does not see the individual particles of the vase, but it does see the particles connected to the vase that has parts. The former is established, as it says in the Commentary on Valid Cognition: 'Therefore, the object of sense is not particles.' The latter is established, as it says in the Great Commentary on Valid Cognition, Illuminating the Path to Liberation: 'There is a reason why the particles that are the apprehended object of sense consciousness are called aggregates.' The conceptual thought that apprehends a vase does not directly apprehend the neck, base, and particles of the vase, because it is an exclusion of the vase. Conceptual sound is similar to the exclusion of an object, as it says in the Commentary on Valid Cognition: 'General terms and qualified sounds, conceptual thought is also the same in meaning.' Furthermore, are the clear appearances of objects the same or different for sense consciousness and conceptual thought? They are different, because if an object appears clearly, it would become non-conceptual. As it says in the Commentary on Valid Cognition: 'Whatever mind has a clear appearance, that is considered non-conceptual knowledge.' Conceptual thought does not have a clear appearance of objects, as it says in the Commentary on Valid Cognition: 'That which is connected with conceptual thought is not something that has a clear appearance of an object.' Both conceptual and non-conceptual consciousness can arise with both clear and unclear appearances of objects, both during waking and during simultaneous occurrences. As it says in the Commentary on Valid Cognition:
