It is because of the senses. Because of these reasons, the first is to mistakenly think that fire has a wheel shape or form. The second is to mistakenly think about the number of moons. The third is to mistakenly think about the work of mountains and forests. The fourth is to mistakenly think about the color of the ground. Non-conceptual sensory consciousnesses, no matter what errors occur in essence and characteristics such as form, number, and time, are considered to be errors. As it is said in the Ornament of Reasoning: "Therefore, even if non-conceptual consciousnesses are mistaken about one part of their own object, it is equivalent to being mistaken about all of themselves." Therefore. Some great Indian and Tibetan paṇḍitas believe that the consciousnesses mentioned earlier are not mistaken about their own objects, because the first is not mistaken in thinking it is fire, the second is not mistaken in thinking it is the moon, the third is not mistaken in thinking it is mountains and forests, and the fourth is not mistaken in thinking it is the ground. Therefore, they believe that there may also be valid cognition in these cases. But according to one's own view, these are also illusions and wrong views. So, when observing the outlines of the sun, moon, stars, etc. in the sky and distant objects, is the sensory consciousness that feels that they are smaller than their actual size considered an illusion? If it is considered so, it is unreasonable, because in that case, all eye consciousnesses that see things as they are would not be able to see distant mountains and trees, etc. If it is not considered so, it is also unreasonable, because at that time they appear smaller than their respective sizes, so there is an error in size. Answer: There is no fault. Because at that time, the eye consciousness that sees the objects that are far away is correct, although it is not an illusion, the sensory consciousness that feels that they are smaller than their respective sizes, and the conceptual thoughts that hold this view, should be considered illusions. The first is established because it is a sensory manifestation. The second is established because Khedrup Je said in the Elucidation of the Seven Treatises: "For example, in a wilderness, when looking from a distance, the eye consciousness feels that objects are sometimes small and sometimes large, this consciousness that is mistaken about size." So, when the sun and moon appear to be stuck to the top of a mountain at sunrise and sunset, is the eye consciousness an illusion or not? Similar to the previous situation, the eye consciousness that sees the outlines of the sun and moon, etc. that appear to be stuck to the top of the mountain is correct, because it is a sensory manifestation, so it is not an illusion. However, the eye consciousness that thinks they are stuck to the top of the mountain and the conceptual thought that holds this view are illusions.

Therefore. The first point is established. In the "Seven Treatises Clearing Away Darkness," it says, "It is unreasonable to consider the sun as appearing to stick to the mountain peak as an illusion." From there, it says, "The sky between the sun's disc and the mountain is not seen." Because of this, it means that objects existing in the empty space are not seen. The second point is established because at that time, in reality, the sun and moon are not like sticking to the mountain peak. Also, in early spring, when near a gray sandy area, in the absence of water, is the eye consciousness that sees the mirage water flowing like green moss a valid cognition? If so, it is the same as before. At that time, the eye consciousness that sees the mirage water is a valid cognition, but the root consciousness and conceptual thoughts that cling to the mirage as water should be established as illusory consciousness. The first point is established. In the "Seven Treatises Clearing Away Darkness," it says, "The direct perception of seeing the color of the mirage is also a valid cognition for the green and flowing parts, and from this, a definite understanding is drawn. If even the green and flowing parts are not seen at that time, how could one falsely assume it to be water?" Because of this. The second point is established because the mirage is not water. Also, due to the influence of karma, when the eye consciousness of some hungry ghosts perceives the river that should be viewed as pus and blood, are those eye consciousnesses valid cognitions? If so, it is unreasonable, just as the root consciousness of the snow mountain appearing blue cannot be a valid cognition, the same applies to the situation where the river appears as pus and blood. If not, it is unreasonable, because at that time, due to the influence of karma, there would be the possibility of pus and blood becoming a valid cognition. The reason is that in the "Brahma Praise," it says, "Water is also seen as pus and blood." Furthermore, when the three, gods, humans, and hungry ghosts, with karma, simultaneously look at a bowl filled with moist liquid, there may be three things becoming valid cognitions, because the "Twenty Verses" says, "Although the object is one, the minds are different." If asked in this way, then, for the same reason, at that time, the root consciousness of viewing the river appearing as pus and blood has both valid and invalid aspects, therefore it is not the same as the root consciousness of the snow mountain appearing blue. Also, is the eye consciousness that sees a variegated circle appearing on the tip of a flame a valid cognition? If so, it is unreasonable, because there is no such variegated circle on the tip of the flame. If it is not, then it is also unreasonable, because on the tip of the flame,
