There are means of measurement and counting, etc. Like the Buddha, a teacher who does not deceive by observing things as they are and teaching with words, is called a valid person and a person of validity. Like using a standard scale, measurement and counting are considered valid, and so on. Secondly, non-valid consciousness is divided into two: definition and classification. First, the awareness that is not newly non-deceptive knowledge is the definition of non-valid consciousness. Secondly, although there are generally many classifications, here, to eliminate wrong conceptions, it is explained in five ways: wrong view, doubt, decisive consciousness, conjecture, and the mind that is uncertain about appearances. First, the awareness that is mistaken about its own object of attachment is the definition of wrong view itself. It is divided into two types: conceptual wrong view and non-conceptual wrong view. For example, the conception that rabbits have horns and that persons have a self, the conception that sound is permanent, and the conception that things like cause and effect exist but do not exist, these are conceptual wrong views, belonging to consciousness. Seeing a white conch as yellow, seeing a snow mountain as blue, seeing peacock feathers as water, and seeing forests as moving scenes, etc., these are non-conceptual wrong views. Second, the mental factor of doubting one's own object is the definition of doubt. It is divided into three types: doubt that changes meaning, doubt that does not change meaning, and doubt that doubts to an equal degree. For example, whether sound is permanent or impermanent, mostly thinking it is impermanent; whether cause and effect are true or not true, mostly thinking it is true, such doubt is doubt that changes meaning. Like sound, mostly thinking it is permanent; cause and effect mostly thinking it is not true, such doubt is doubt that does not change meaning. Doubting these without distinction, to an equal degree, is doubt of equal degree. Third, the reasoning that understands what has already been understood is the definition of decisive consciousness. It is divided into two types: direct perception decisive consciousness and conceptual decisive consciousness. The first is like the second moment of direct perception of an ordinary person; the second is like the second moment of inference. It is merely adding a re-application to what has been newly understood by the valid cognition in the previous moment, and it is not newly understood. Fourth, not relying on either experience or a correct sign, completely certain about one's own object,

Attachment. The definition of conjecture. It has five types: conjecture with contradictory reasons, conjecture without reasons, conjecture with uncertain reasons, conjecture with unestablished reasons, and conjecture with undetermined reasons. Among them, taking audibility as the reason for clinging to sound as impermanent is like the first type. Clinging to sound as impermanent without reason is like the second type. Taking existence as the reason for clinging to sound as impermanent is like the third type. Taking being an object of eye consciousness as the reason for clinging to sound as impermanent is like the fourth type. Merely taking sound as being made as the reason, but not being certain whether it is made, and thinking that sound is impermanent, is like the fifth type of conjecture. In short, not knowing the reason why something is that, but clinging to it together with that as having the same meaning, these are all conjectures. The fifth is that the object of one's own entry, the self-character appears clearly, but the wisdom that cannot draw a conclusion from it is the definition of a mind that appears but is uncertain. It has three types: the sensory manifest that has become that, the mental manifest, and the self-awareness manifest. Among them, like the second moment of the sensory manifest clinging to the form of looking back, is the first type. Like the mental manifest clinging to that form, is the second type. Like the self-awareness experiencing the last moment of the thought stream, is the third type. In short, the object of one's own realization appears clearly to oneself, but the knowledge that cannot draw the conclusion that it is that is a kind of knowledge, mostly the knowledge of a newborn baby. The second is to show the door of analysis, in the Commentary on Valid Cognition it says: "There are four types of appearances like valid cognition." As it is said, there are many appearances like valid cognition, because there are four types of causes of error existing in the object, the basis existing, the place existing, and the immediately following condition existing. Like the sensory consciousness that arises from quickly rotating a torch, appearing as a wheel, is the cause of error existing in the object. The sensory consciousness that arises from the eyes being deceived by cataracts, appearing as two moons, is the cause of error existing in the basis. When traveling on a boat, the sensory consciousness that arises from the appearance of the mountains and forests on the opposite shore moving, is the cause of error existing in the place. Like the sensory consciousness that arises from the ground appearing red due to the mind being disturbed by anger, is the cause of error existing in the immediately following condition.
