That which appears as speech and mind, is the union of Buddha and Padma Vajradhara, which is the secret gathering of literal meaning; from the three syllables becoming Vajradhara, and then the union of vidya, vajra, and lotus, is the secret gathering of common meaning; the three appearances possessing the vigor of wind, which itself is the nature of skillful means and wisdom, arising as an illusory body, is the secret gathering of hidden meaning; the union of the two truths, non-dual and inseparable, is said to be the meaning of the ultimate secret gathering, because it is explained in this way; and because in most of the provisional and definitive scriptures and commentaries on intent, the four modes of explanation exist simultaneously. However, it is impossible for one scripture to have the explanations of the six extremes simultaneously, because the two of intent and non-intent, and the two of literal and non-literal scriptures are contradictory. The third point is, do the six extremes and four modes of explanation mentioned above exist in the Unsurpassed Yoga and the three lower tantras and the sutra aspect, and how do they contradict or not contradict? If someone asks this, the answer is, although it is not compiled and clearly explained in one place in the commentary, it can be compiled as the venerable one himself did in one place in the commentary of Yeshe Dorje Kunle Dhu. It says: If the key to the method of explaining the tantra is the six extremes and four modes, then to which of the four tantras does this explanation apply? If someone thinks this, then for this, the explanation of the four modes means that the explanation of the four meanings in one scripture is applicable. Although the meaning of the lower tantras and the meaning of general words have a common basis, the remaining two modes of explanation do not apply to it, so the explanation of the four modes should only apply to the Unsurpassed Yoga. Although the lower tantras do not have a complete explanation of the six extremes, one aspect of it, the literal explanation, applies to the three lower tantras, because it is said in this tantra, so this is common to the four tantras. In the Paramita and the lower tantras, from the perspective of showing the two truths, there is the establishment of provisional and definitive meanings, but the explanation of provisional and definitive meanings among the six extremes does not apply to them, because they have the same name but different meanings. Like this, their provisional and definitive meanings are mutually contradictory between scriptures, but here, the two explanations of provisional and definitive meanings are in one scripture.

Because of doing so, and because the ways of establishing direct and indirect meanings differ. Furthermore, when revealing the true nature of Dharma, if the words contradict the meaning, they reveal other meanings; although there are also cases in other vehicles and lower tantras where words directly reveal the true nature, the explanations of intention and non-intention among the six extremes do not exist. The main meaning of that is that the ultimate explanation in this tantra is the final explanation. Apart from that, explanations of intention and non-intention also appear in explanations related to meanings that are uncommon to others. Among the two types of non-literal explanations, the non-literal explanations explained from the Perfection of Wisdom and so on refer to meanings that cannot be understood in the way they are explained in those scriptures. The non-literal meaning among the six extremes, although not as well-known as in worldly matters and treatises, is merely established as a symbol made by the Tathagata. This is explained in the "Purification of the Lower Realms Tantra," where the ten names of Vajrapani are revealed by words such as "Kota Khya," which is common to the lower tantras. So, can everything that can be explained in four ways be explained in two ways, directly and indirectly? Or, can everything that can be explained in two ways, directly and indirectly, be explained in four ways? In the sixth chapter, it says, "Imagine a mustard seed on the tip of the nose." The four lines are explained in the "Lamp Illuminating" as two ways, direct and indirect. For the direct meaning, there are two: the desire that is the basis, the concealment of the Dharma, and the subtle meditation of the generation stage. For the indirect meaning, there are explanations of vajra recitation, impure illusion, and the true nature of the pure deity. Therefore, it is permissible to summarize all the meanings that can be explained in four ways into two ways, direct and indirect. Therefore, it is evident that the application of the four explanations can also be explained in two ways, directly and indirectly. However, separate explanations are made according to the needs of classification and summarization. There is no certainty that what can be explained in two ways, directly and indirectly, can be explained in four ways, because the direct meaning may or may not have letters and generalities, while the indirect meaning may or may not have hidden and ultimate meanings, depending on the circumstances. If the four ways of explaining are summarized into what can be explained in two ways, directly and indirectly, it can be done like this: In this tantra, the ultimate meaning is intention and non-intention, and the literal meaning is the meaning of the words.
