In the "Lamp Illuminating Wisdom," each chapter concludes with explanations using six approaches. Starting from "all that is said will be well guided." If the four modes and the explanations of direct and indirect meaning do not contradict each other, then are the remaining four of the six approaches and the explanations of the four modes contradictory or not? In the previously cited third chapter, each text is said to be interpreted intentionally in five levels. Since the four modes also explain, the intentional interpretation and the explanation of the four modes are not contradictory. Chapter six states, "Meditate on a mustard seed at the tip of the nose." The meaning of what is said is considered an intentional interpretation in five levels. Since the "Lamp Illuminating Wisdom" explains using both direct and indirect meanings, it is possible for one text to be explained using the four modes, both direct and indirect meanings, and intentional interpretation, thus allowing for seven types of explanation. Whether something is an intentional or literal interpretation is not explicitly stated in the texts of the father and son regarding the four modes of explanation. So, are intentional and literal interpretations contradictory or not? Intentional interpretation primarily shows the meaning of suchness, while literal interpretation has the distinction of not emphasizing it, but I think there is no contradiction. Furthermore, for those who make intentional interpretations, phonetic contradictions are more common and important, so it is explained that way. However, it is not that the text does not directly show the phonetics. This reasoning should also be understood for non-intentional interpretations. These words need to be understood. Additionally, the footnote at the end of the first chapter says, "Although there are two ways to explain the text, the explanation of the four modes is not mentioned because it is thought that this explanation is included in the explanation of the six approaches. All the remaining chapters should be understood in the same way. Generally, saying that it is explained by six approaches does not require all six to be complete. The first chapter has explanations using five of the six approaches, and it clearly makes a non-literal interpretation. However, for situations like each letter of the introduction showing the meaning of the occasion, since it includes the meaning of non-literal interpretation, it includes the explanation of all six approaches." It is necessary to understand it this way. There is a way for the explanation of the four modes to be included in the explanation of the six approaches, because the generality and specificity of the text are included in the explanation of direct meaning and literal interpretation. Hidden explanations are included in the explanation of indirect meaning and non-literal interpretation. The ultimate explanation is included in the explanation of indirect meaning and non-intentional interpretation.
