Until then, because one does not understand well the way of establishing the two truths, even if one promises that all sentient beings will attain Buddhahood, it is merely a vow that follows the words. Therefore, those with the minds of children at present do not seem to see anything better than just the general sound. The mind of sentient beings, which is naturally pure, is realized through the path and becomes accustomed to it. In the end, when all adventitious defilements on the mind stream are exhausted and prevented in such a way that they no longer arise, it becomes the Dharmakaya. Until it becomes that, it is the nature of phenomena that has not abandoned defilements. Therefore, it is called the naturally abiding lineage and the Tathagatagarbha. Both of these, the naturally abiding lineage and the expanding lineage, are present in all sentient beings. Therefore, all sentient beings are said to possess the Tathagatagarbha. As it is said in the Uttaratantra, "Because there is lineage, all embodied beings constantly possess the Buddha-nature." If there is refuge, faith, compassion, love, and joy in virtue, etc., it is a special sign of the lineage. Just as the nature of the sky in the east and west has no different lineages, the ultimate emptiness of the minds of sentient beings and the ultimate emptiness of the minds of the Buddhas have no difference in nature. However, due to the difference of being with or without defilements, they are established as different negations. Both emptinesses exist in all times, before and after. In particular, the latter emptiness is the Dharmakaya, but the Dharmakaya does not necessarily have to exist in the state of both sentient beings and Buddhas. One must understand this way with correct reasoning and not be confused. When one has just become a Buddha, the emptiness of the mind is newly enlightened. If so, one should not doubt that it will become permanent. One should not doubt this, because when all obscurations are newly abandoned, the Dharmakaya is established from the aspect of abandoning those obscurations. Before that, one cannot obtain the name of Dharmakaya. It will not become impermanent, because at that time, that mere emptiness is not newly produced, but has existed from the beginning. Therefore, there is a difference in the way of establishing permanence known to the wise and the foolish, so one should not be confused about the meaning of permanence as the foolish think. These need to be explained in detail.

There are also many doubts. Fourth, regarding the explanation of the proof that all sentient beings possess the Buddha-nature, there are two parts: generally indicating the proof, and explaining how the essence is obscured by defilements by combining examples and meanings. In the first part, although the root text and commentary of the Uttaratantra do not explain many reasons, here, for the sake of easy understanding, all sentient beings have the lineage of the Tathagata, because the activity of the Buddhas can enter into the minds of all beings, and the nature of the mind is naturally pure, obscured by adventitious defilements, which can be removed by the power of cultivating the path, because the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, perform the activity of generating roots of virtue in the minds of all sentient beings, and the grasping of self of person and self of phenomena is also due to the delusion of the object of attachment, like mistaking a speckled rope for a snake. Thus, the noble Nagarjuna said: "That is not obtained in oneself, others, or the three times, therefore, attachment to self will cease, and from that, karma and birth as well." Also, in the Pramāṇavārttika, it is said: "Because there is a cause, the enemy of the cause, is exhausted by cultivation." Thus, it is said a lot. If it is said that the mind of sentient beings is the lineage that abides in the nature of true emptiness, but because it is an unconditioned phenomenon that cannot perform the actions of cause and effect, what is the use of striving to become a Buddha by relying on it? There is no fault, because its intention is that, in general, all phenomena are reasonable to act while being empty of self-nature, and all phenomena of the conventional truth appear as if from the illusion of the emptiness of the nature of phenomena, and the phenomena of samsara and nirvana appear from the transformation of the mind and the true emptiness of the mind. If it were truly established, then acting would become unreasonable. Thus it is said: "In emptiness of self-nature, acting is also reasonable, without contradiction." It is also said: "If phenomena had some self-nature, there would be no nirvana, and all elaborations would not cease." Thus it appears. Even so, the true emptiness of the mind is the basis on which the phenomena of samsara and nirvana depend, but it is not the cause of arising. Furthermore, space is merely established as obstructing obstructive things, and to that, temporarily
