Rather, it appears to be established from the perspective of its own way of abiding. When that way of abiding, which appears in that way, is refuted by reasoning, then, just as horses and cattle appear to a magician, all phenomena, internal and external, are understood as merely established by the power of their appearance to the mind. Therefore, one does not apprehend that they exist in a way of abiding that is not established by that power. Although the arising of a sprout is established by the power of the mind, generally, the sprout arises from a seed on its own, which is similar to the basis of transformation appearing as horses and cattle at that time. The mind that establishes must be harmless; it is not desired that something can be established merely by the appearance to a mind that is deluded about the object of attachment. Forms, sounds, etc., are established through the way they appear to the sense consciousnesses that apprehend them. Similarly, all phenomena are also established through the way they appear to the mind that realizes them. Just as there is neither appearance nor attachment to horses and cattle for an uncorrupted eye, there is neither appearance nor attachment to true establishment in the vision of the wisdom of the noble ones who directly realize what is. To explain the reasoning of one and many that refutes the object to be refuted, there are two parts: stating the sign and establishing the reason. The first is: the sprout, the subject, is not truly existent, because it does not establish either a truly established one or a truly established many. For example, like an image. The second has two parts: establishing the pervasion and the property of the subject. The first is: if a truly established one and its many are not established, then it is pervaded by not being truly existent, because if it were truly established, it would have to exist in either of those two. The second, establishing the property of the subject, has two parts, the first of which is: the sprout, the subject, is not a truly established one, because it is composite. It is pervaded by: if it were a truly established one, then it would have to be an indivisible one. The reason for that is: if there is a distinction of parts, then it is established in dependence on each other, therefore it contradicts being truly established. For the above sign, it is further inferred: whatever exists is impossible in an indivisible knowable. For the latter, it is further inferred: it does not exist in conditioned phenomena, nor does it exist in unconditioned phenomena. For the former, it is further inferred: it does not exist in form, nor does it exist in non-associated compositional factors, nor does it exist in consciousness. For the former, it is further inferred: it does not exist in coarse form, nor does it exist in subtle form. For the former, it is further inferred: a coarse form like a vase

Since the elements such as earth are manifestly observed to have directional parts. If the ultimate particle is partless, then, when one atom is surrounded by six atoms, does the western atom touch the surface where the eastern atom touches the central atom? It does not touch. If it touches, then the eastern atom should be in the position of the central atom. Because the proposition is valid. If you accept, then the other five atoms should also be in that position. Because that is what you accept. If you accept, then no matter how many atoms are accumulated, it is impossible to become a large aggregate. If it does not touch, then the central atom should have two parts: the eastern atom touching and not touching. Because it has a part where the eastern atom touches and the western atom does not touch. If you accept, then it is established as having parts. This is what Asanga said: When six are simultaneously combined from twenty, the ultimate particle becomes six parts. If these six are also in one position, then the aggregate will also become like an atom. It is not possible for non-functional phenomena to be partless, because it is not possible for persons or time, etc. The first reason: Because a person has parts such as sitting, standing, upper and lower body, limbs, etc. It is not possible for time to be partless, because a year is a month, a month is a day, a day is an hour, and an hour has parts such as before and after. Someone might think, is the final moment of time partless? That is also unreasonable, because it has a part that is related to its previous moment. Reason: Because it cannot arise without its previous moment. It is not possible for consciousness to be partless, because consciousness in general has the distinction between the consciousness of ordinary beings and noble beings, and the distinction between synonymous and non-synonymous, etc. Moreover, in the mindstream of one person, there are also many parts of clarity and non-clarity and temporal order. The last moment of consciousness also has a part that is related to its previous moment. It is not possible for the unconditioned to be partless, because it is not possible for space, cessation, or suchness. The first reason: Because space has parts that are related or unrelated to coarse form with obstruction, and parts that are established by the distinction between east and west, and parts such as pervading the space inside the eastern pot but not pervading the space inside the western pot. It is not possible for cessation to be partless, because it has many different parts of abandoning different objects to be abandoned.
