Because transformation would lead to there being no good, bad, or middling. Some people first ascertain the empty and vast sky, and then mix it with their own mind to meditate, saying that this is meditating on the true nature, which is also unreasonable, because just as the sky is emptied by obstructive touch, the mind is also only meditating on being emptied by it. Then, what does it mean that the sutras use the sky as an example? It is not as you think, the sky is only the cessation of obstructive touch, similarly, the nature of all phenomena such as the mind, is said to be merely the cessation of truly established objects to be negated. Also, some who are inclined to meditate on the true nature say that since obtaining the view of realizing selflessness, after analyzing once with reason, all states of non-conceptual abiding are also meditating on the meaning of the true nature, which is also unreasonable, because if that were the case, then falling into a deep sleep and fainting would also become meditating on the true nature. Some say that since obtaining that, merely thinking that there is no truth, no self-nature, is meditating on the true nature, which is also unreasonable, because that is only repeating the general words of no truth, not meditating after ascertaining the meaning of no truth. Some say that after ascertaining the meaning of no truth and meditating again, one should only do abiding meditation, and some say that during the main practice one should repeatedly analyze and meditate, which is also somewhat unreasonable, for beginners, before obtaining calm abiding, it is possible to do abiding meditation after analyzing a little between the view and the main practice, merely abiding meditation cannot accomplish insight, and if there is too much analysis, it will cause excitement and not accomplish calm abiding. The way of meditation of one's own school has been said before. The views mentioned above, the later ones are more excellent than the earlier ones, but no matter which one is meditated on, it can plant the seed of liberation. Not only does meditating on these views produce great benefits, but merely hearing and thinking about them also produces different benefits, because I was worried about the length, I did not write them. If I only show a little necessity, it is said in the Bodhicaryavatara: All these limbs, the Buddha taught for the sake of wisdom, therefore, those who wish to pacify suffering should generate wisdom.

Thus it is said. Maitreya also said, "There is nothing else to abandon other than wisdom, therefore wisdom is supreme. The basis of wisdom is listening, therefore listening is supreme." The Samadhiraja Sutra also says, "If one individually observes the Dharma of selflessness, if one individually observes and meditates, then that is the cause for obtaining the fruit of Nirvana. If there is any other cause, that will not pacify." Thus it is said. So, what is the order of listening, thinking, and meditating on the meaning of selflessness? There is, in the Great Treatise on the Stages of the Path, it says, "Therefore, one must first hear from others what is to be practiced, and determine it through the power of others. Then, one must properly think about the meaning of what has been heard through scripture and reason, and determine it through one's own power. Having thus determined through listening and thinking, when there is no doubt, repeatedly familiarizing oneself is called meditation." Thus it is said, so it must be done this way. The amount of listening, thinking, and meditating will also lead to the amount of practice, as it is said in the Great Treatise on the Stages of the Path, "Therefore, the more one listens, the more wisdom arises from it. The more wisdom there is, the more thinking there is, and the more thinking there is, the more wisdom arises from it. The more wisdom there is, the more one practices through meditation." Thus it is said. However, it is clear that listening should not just be looking outward. Therefore, one must also understand the difference between the wisdom of listening and the wisdom that arises from it, thinking and the wisdom that arises from it, meditation and the wisdom that arises from it. Finished speaking. In short, the heart of the teachings is the view of selflessness. In connection with the distinctions of the four philosophical schools, the intention of the venerable Dharma King Tsongkhapa, as it is, I have briefly explained. This method may not be of any use to those who only seek food and clothing. But I thought that it might be helpful to those intelligent people who want to taste the supreme nectar of the sacred Dharma, so I wrote it down. Whatever pure merit is generated from striving in this way, like the peak of a snow mountain, may it be dedicated to the long-lasting existence of the heart of the teachings, and ultimately become the cause for attaining Buddhahood. Thus, this explanation of the stages of the view in relation to the four schools is called "Clarifying the Path to Liberation," which is a combination of faith and wisdom.

Thang Ka Chuwa Jamyang Jinpa. As the master said, "The heart of the teachings is emptiness." Seeing the view of realizing selflessness as the heart of the Dharma, I thought that it might be beneficial to some. Therefore, after someone encouraged me, saying, "Do something like this, and I will carve it into print," Shakya monk Drakpa Shedrup, who has gained some insight into the methods of reasoning, composed this on the waxing moon of the black snake wood month. May this also benefit the teachings of Je Lama. Auspicious!
