Or, just as this aggregate does not take birth, so too, I will not take birth. The second fault is: generally, it is not a fault for one person to have multiple selves in the order of earlier and later births and times. However, if such a self is one with the aggregates, just as there are five aggregates, will there also be five different selves? Or, just as there is one self, will the five aggregates also become one? The third fault is: generally, it is not a fault for just the self to arise and cease. However, if such a self arises and ceases, although there are four faults, if they are summarized, it becomes the arising and ceasing of true existence. Therefore, when taking birth, the essence cannot change, and thus it will become the common basis of the six realms of beings. The second reason is: such a self is not established as being different from the aggregates on top of the aggregates. If it were established in that way, it would have to be established independently of the aggregates. Therefore, it must exist separately from the aggregates, but that is not the case. The first is the thesis: if it is established by its own nature, it must be established without relying on others. Therefore, one should think that such a self does not exist. By examining it well in this way, one will find the view of realizing selflessness. The measure of finding it is, as stated in Je Rinpoche's commentary on the Root Wisdom: If the self is established by its own nature, then the self must be established as either one with the aggregates and established by its own characteristics, or as different. And, if one sees that both of these are harmed by reason, then one will definitely realize that the self is not established by its own nature at all. This is finding the view of realizing that the object of the coemergent ego-grasping of the view of the perishable is without inherent existence. Also, Khedrup Norzang Gyatso said: Through the reasoning of one and many, by examining in this way, when a valid cognition arises from the meaning of the examination, at that time, one will realize that phenomena such as sprouts and other dependent arisings are not established by their own nature. Because that is what was said. Second: As it says in the "Entering the Middle Way": The chariot is not considered other than its parts, nor non-other, nor does it possess otherness, nor is it on the parts, nor are the parts there, nor is it merely an aggregation, nor is it a shape, just like that. Just as one cannot find a chariot by searching with the sevenfold chariot reasoning, so too, I am combining that with the example and the meaning

If we speak as Vasubandhu said, the chariot is not established in any of the seven ways, such as being one with its own parts or being different in nature. The chariot, the subject, is not one in nature with its own parts, because if it were, since the parts are many, you, the driver, would also become many, or just as you are one, the parts would also become one. This, the subject, is not a separate entity established by its own essence from its own parts, because if it were, just as with a pot and a blanket, you should be able to clearly distinguish each part from your own parts, but this is not seen. This, the subject, you are not inherently the support of your own parts, because just as a pillar is the support of a roof, you do not inherently exist as separate from the support of your own parts. This, the subject, you also do not inherently depend on your own parts, because just as Lhas Byin sits on a bed, you do not inherently depend on your own parts as something separate. This, the subject, is also not inherently possessed of its own parts, because just as Lhas Byin possesses a cow, it is not possessed in a way that is different in essence from it, and just as Lhas Byin possesses ears, it is not inherently possessed in a way that is one in essence with it. If one thinks that the collection of the chariot's parts and the shape are the chariot, firstly, this is not reasonable, because in that case, even an unarranged collection of parts would have a chariot. The latter is also not reasonable, because neither the individual parts nor the shape of the collection can be a chariot. Although it is not found when searched for in this way, the chariot does exist nominally. As it says in the Engaging in the Bodhisattva Deeds, "It is not found in it or in the world, when sought with seven aspects, but in the world, it is designated as relying on its own parts." Therefore, the chariot is nominally different from its own parts and is also possessed of a relationship of dependence and being one in essence, so when refuting these, it is necessary to clearly apply the distinction of what is to be refuted. Applying this to the meaning, just as the chariot is not found when searched for with the sevenfold reasoning, it can also be analogized to a person, as follows: A person, the subject, does not inherently exist on top of his own aggregates, because his own aggregates
