By holding the duration of either inhalation or exhalation, one should act in the manner of considering the self-sound of abiding as the self-sound of Aḥ (ཨཿ, Devanagari: अ, Romanized Sanskrit: a, Literal meaning: A). This is not merely uttering with the mouth or reciting with the mind, but rather acting by considering the self-sounds of inhalation, exhalation, and abiding as three letters. At that time, one must consider the essence of wind and mantra as inseparable, because clinging to the essence of wind and mantra as distinct is a contradictory aspect of Vajra recitation. As it says in the Root Tantra of the Compendium, "Begging for food and not reciting." When explaining its definitive meaning, the Lungton says, "Distinct letters are begging. Reciting them is eating." Because at that time, it is said that the essence of wind and mantra should not be seen as distinct. The manner of combining the three letters with the three aspects of wind, inhalation, exhalation, and abiding is as previously explained. As it says in the Oral Transmission, "From that, the letter Hūṃ is emitted, with Oṃ it is gathered, and with A it abides." Therefore, initially, by doing Vajra recitation with equal measures of inhalation, exhalation, and abiding, one becomes accustomed, and naturally a state of abiding will arise. Then, the abiding becomes longer and longer, and the inhalation and exhalation both become shorter and shorter, until finally only abiding remains, and the abiding subsequently dissolves. As it says in the Vajra Garland, "The three abidings of the sign's suchness are the characteristic of self-nature recitation." From "The three suchness become one, there is no going and no coming." Therefore, by doing this, Vajra recitation stirs the downward-clearing wind, thereby igniting the inner heat of the navel and melting the bodhicitta of the crown, from which great bliss arises. As it says in the Vajra Garland, "The suchness of wind is perfectly endowed, by urging with the letter Hūṃ (ཧཱུྃ, Devanagari: हुं, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, Literal meaning: Hūṃ), one makes the wheel of fire awaken." And as it says in the Oral Transmission, "With the diligent vow-holder's bow-shaped movement, at the three junctions, the fire of wisdom blazes, melting the constituents." And as it says in the Great Seal Drop, "By the true blazing of that fire, the great bliss wheel will melt." Therefore, when this occurs, the wisdom of bliss and emptiness will arise. As it says in the Oral Transmission, "By thoroughly grasping that suchness, from inhalation, abiding, and hatred, one will attain the wisdom of liberation. Do not doubt, do not be of two minds." Vajra recitation is able to untie the knot of the heart channel. As it says in the Vajra Garland

Because it is said, "It is liberated by the very nature of mantra, and after the yogic knot is untied," there is a way to liberate. Just as repeatedly using a long probe to clear a pen tube blocked by soil will make it clear, similarly, by repeatedly focusing on the three aspects of rising, entering, and abiding within the heart's dhūtī (Sanskrit: dhūtī, Romanized Sanskrit: dhūtī, Literal meaning: pulse), the heart's knot gradually loosens, eventually leading to the complete untying of the knots. At the time of liberation, the heart's pulse petals must turn upwards. As it is said in the Vajra Garland, "Because there, by reciting, the heart's lotus looks upward." Among all the knots, the heart's knot is the most difficult to untie. Because in other chakra locations, there is only one knot on each side, left and right, wrapped by rolang, totaling two. However, the heart's dhūtī (Sanskrit: dhūtī, Romanized Sanskrit: dhūtī, Literal meaning: pulse) has three knots on each side, left and right, wrapped by rolang, totaling six knots binding it. As it is said in the Vajra Garland, "There, it is difficult to separate, in the center, it is wrapped by three knots." Furthermore, from the perspective of its essence, Vajra recitation includes the Vajra recitation of both huṃ (Tibetan, Devanagari: हुं, Romanized Sanskrit: huṃ, Literal meaning: hum) and ho (Tibetan, Devanagari: हो, Romanized Sanskrit: ho, Literal meaning: ho), as well as the Vajra recitation of three syllables. From the perspective of wind, there are two types of Vajra recitation: the Vajra recitation of the root wind and the branch wind. From the perspective of location, there are two types of Vajra recitation: the upward-moving and the downward-moving. When performing the three-syllable Vajra recitation through instructions, one visualizes obtaining a subtle, smoke-like wind from the nada of huṃ (Tibetan, Devanagari: हुं, Romanized Sanskrit: huṃ, Literal meaning: hum), considering it to be the sound of huṃ (Tibetan, Devanagari: हुं, Romanized Sanskrit: huṃ, Literal meaning: hum). Then, one contemplates it dissolving into the object of focus through the sound of oṃ (Tibetan, Devanagari: ओं, Romanized Sanskrit: oṃ, Literal meaning: om), and abiding through the sound of āḥ (Tibetan, Devanagari: आः, Romanized Sanskrit: āḥ, Literal meaning: ah). The main point is that, as mentioned earlier, by performing the upward-moving Vajra recitation, the wind enters the central channel, resulting in the three states of entering, abiding, and dissolving, with the signs being as before. At that time, the tummo of the navel and secret place should also be ignited as before, and the four joys should be drawn in direct and reverse order, combining bliss and emptiness for practice and integration. These aspects of Vajra recitation appear in the context of speech truth in the system of Guhyasamaja, so it is similar here as well. Second, the yoga of samaya (vows), from the Indian text "The Mudra of Wisdom and Means": "Through the stages of the guru's instructions, sentient beings"
