Because it arises from causes and conditions. As stated in the "Five Stages": "All beings are without autonomy; they do not arise autonomously. Their cause is luminosity; all luminosity is emptiness." Therefore, those ordinary beings who do not possess the skillful means of secret instructions become the cause of wandering in samsara. But those who possess the skillful means of secret instructions will arise as the illusory body and attain Buddhahood. As it says: "The very mind that binds children with the bonds of samsara, by that very mind, the yogi goes to the state of the Sugata." Therefore, the extremely subtle wind-mind is the cause of beings' birth, death, the three bardos, and the holding of various bodies. As it says in the "Vajra Garland": "Birth, abiding, and destruction, and the intermediate demon residing in between, as long as the world exists, are all transformations of the wind of mind." And in the "Prophecy Sutra" it also says: "Those with perception and those without perception, who are designated as beings and abide, all arise from the wind, and again cease from the wind." Therefore, all sentient beings inherently possess the basis for the practice of the illusory body, which is the two, wind and mind. Sentient beings have two kinds of body and mind: the coarse, temporary body and mind, and the subtle, innate body and mind. Although the coarse, temporary body and mind are abandoned, the subtle, innate body and mind act as the proximate cause of the illusory body during the bardo at the base and during the path. To differentiate slightly, it is like this: the extremely subtle wind is the proximate cause of the body of the two illusory bodies, which are its own result, and the mind is its cooperative condition. The extremely subtle mind is the proximate cause of the mind of the two illusory bodies, which are its own result, and the wind is its cooperative condition. The mere "I" that is designated in dependence on the gathering of the two, wind and mind, is the proximate cause of the two illusory bodies. Even though one person has two bodies and minds, coarse and subtle, there is no fault of becoming two streams, because the two are the dependent and the depended upon, and either of the two

Because when one primarily engages in one activity, the other remains in a dull state. Although multiple "I"s may arise in one person due to different times such as morning and evening, that person does not transform into multiple different continuums. Although the extremely subtle wind and mind are not one, their essence is the same. The two are like water merging into water or butter merging into butter, the essence is the same, only the focus is different. This is like the mount being wind, like a horse, and the rider being mind, like a person. Because relying on wind and attention, the mind enters into different objects. As stated in the *Compendium of Trainings*: "What is its mount? It is called wind. The mind vajra, like riding a horse, moves wherever it desires." Secondly, just as the intermediate state arises from the wind and mind of the death luminosity at the base, similarly, at the path stage, the illusory body will arise from it. As stated in the *Five Stages*: "It is completely united with wind, the three consciousnesses again become the body of the yogi, that is called the illusory body." Here, the illusory body of the third stage has fifteen characteristics, such as the difference in cause. The difference in the actual cause is that it arises solely from the wind and mind of the ultimate example luminosity of mind isolation. The difference in time is that it arises simultaneously with the direct attainment of the progressive and regressive order of ultimate mind isolation. The difference in place is that, according to the yogi's view, it arises variously inside or outside the central bindu of the *dhūtī*. The difference in essence is that it has the nature of wind and mind, a clear and unobstructed body. The difference in color is that it is white, in accordance with the color of the life-sustaining wind. The difference in shape is that at this time it has the form of Heruka and Vajrayogini in union. The difference in the way of seeing is that unless one has attained the illusory body, ordinary beings who have not attained it cannot see it directly. The difference in radiance is that the radiance of the body illuminates countless realms. The difference in enjoyment is that because it possesses all the sense consciousnesses and mental consciousness, it is able to enjoy all its objects. The difference in projection is that the illusory body should arise. The previously projected
