These are called channels. In the Vajra Garland it says: Lalana (Tibetan, Devanagari Sanskrit, Romanized Sanskrit, literal Chinese meaning) and Rasana (Tibetan, Devanagari Sanskrit, Romanized Sanskrit, literal Chinese meaning), Avadhuti (Tibetan, Devanagari Sanskrit, Romanized Sanskrit, literal Chinese meaning) are their names. These, through the practice of increasing, gradually become eight parts. These three become twenty-four. Dividing them into three wheels, from the division of eight channels, with the mantras of body, speech, and mind, seventy-two are manifested. From that, dividing into a thousand, each possessing the nature of increasing. Seventy-two thousand channels, are called the number of channels. Thus it is said. Also, from those channels of the twenty-four places, dividing into three groups of eight channels, from one group of eight channels flows vigor and bodily essence. From one group of eight channels flows sweat and blood. From one group of eight channels flows darkness and the wind that rides on the mind, respectively called the channels of body, speech, and mind, the channels of the three of body, speech, and mind, the channels of vigor, dust, and darkness. In the Sambhuti Tantra it says: Vigor and dust are body and speech, darkness is the nature of mind. Thus it is said. Among them, thirty-one channels have a way of uniting with the consorts of Chakrasamvara, the three channels of left, right, and central unite with Vajravarahi, the channels of the twenty-four places unite with the consorts of the three wheels, and the four channels of the directions unite with the four mothers. Although it is said that there is no union with the eight gate-keeper goddesses among the channels of body, speech, and mind, it is generally thought that it is possible to unite with the channels, because they arise from and unite with the channels located at the root of the tongue, and also because the elements within the channels of the twenty-four places are said to unite with the heroes, it can also be established. Therefore, the use of the terms channels of the twenty-four places, channels of body, speech, and mind, and channels of the three wheels is very much related to the context of Chakrasamvara. The three channels of left, right, and central have categories of names, the central channel, Avadhuti (Tibetan, Devanagari Sanskrit, Romanized Sanskrit, literal Chinese meaning), Rahula, the channel of non-duality, the dark channel, the mind channel, the heart channel, the dissolving channel. The right channel, Rasana (Tibetan, Devanagari Sanskrit, Romanized Sanskrit, literal Chinese meaning), the holding channel, the sun channel, the dust channel, the speech channel or the voice channel, the wisdom channel, the enjoyment channel, the right channel. The left channel, Lalana (Tibetan, Devanagari Sanskrit, Romanized Sanskrit, literal Chinese meaning), the grasped channel, the moon channel, the vigor channel, the body channel, the skillful

It is the nadi, the master nadi, because it is called the left nadi. Wherever there is a knot where the two ro and rkyang nadis embrace the central channel, there is a chakra. There are three knots at the heart and one knot at each of the others. There are five chakras that branch out from the knots: the great bliss chakra at the crown of the head, the enjoyment chakra at the throat, the dharma chakra at the heart, the emanation chakra at the navel, and the bliss-guarding chakra at the secret place. The number of other nadi petals has already been stated. The chakra of the secret place has thirty-two nadi petals, and there are three small chakras: at the throat there is a wind chakra with six nadi petals, between the throat and the heart there is a fire chakra with three nadi petals, and in the center of the jewel there is one with eight nadi petals. Therefore, there is a reason why the chakra of the crown of the head is called the great bliss chakra: because the support of bliss, the nectar-like bodhicitta, abides in the crown of the head. There is a reason why the chakra of the throat is called the enjoyment chakra: because the throat is the place where the six tastes are enjoyed. There is a reason why the chakra of the heart is called the dharma chakra: because the root of dharma, the support of the extremely subtle wind-mind, the indestructible bindu, abides in the heart. There is a reason why the chakra of the navel is called the emanation chakra: because the great bliss emanation, the basis of birth, the fire of tummo, mainly abides in the navel. There is a reason why the chakra of the secret place is called the bliss-guarding chakra: because the co-emergent bliss of forward and reverse mainly arises from the secret place. There is a reason why it is said that the mouth of the ro nadi faces upwards and the mouth of the rkyang nadi faces downwards: because the ro nadi arises from the direction of the throat and performs the function of holding blood upwards, and the rkyang nadi arises from the direction of the navel and performs the function of holding semen downwards. Therefore, it is said that way, but in general, the upper and lower of the two.
