This is an explanation of the meaning of the mantra "Om". It contains two aspects: symbolic meaning and necessary meaning. The necessary meaning is that through the indivisible wind-mantra Vajra recitation, the clear light wind-mind arising from the wind dissolving into the indestructible bindu is completely transformed, thereby accomplishing the illusory body, which is the meaning of the mantra. As the scripture says, "That is the completely transformed form, close to being visualized as a deity." There are many symbolic meanings, such as symbolizing body, speech, and mind, symbolizing the three doors of body, speech, and mind, and so on. Fourth, realizing the suchness that is free from permanence and annihilation, like the sky, and the wisdom of co-emergent great bliss, in a way that they are of equal taste and inseparable essence, is the ultimate meaning of the mantra. As the scripture says, "Without cessation, utterly peaceful, abandoning all permanence and annihilation, not made by the knower of the three times, conceptualization is a sign of indivisibility with the sky. This alone is the ultimate meaning, the nature of self-awareness individually." Fifth, it is necessary to know the provisional and definitive meanings of the short A, which is the root of all mantras. If you know it, you will understand the definitive meaning of all mantras. The root of all provisional meaning mantras is the provisional meaning short A, and the root of all definitive meaning mantras is the definitive meaning short A. As the scripture says, "The short A becomes all speech, not one, not many, and not non-existent." If explained according to what is said in the Compendium of Meanings, there are two types: provisional meaning and definitive meaning. First, there are four ways in which something enters somewhere, why it enters, and how it enters. What enters? The language and words composed of vowels and consonants. Where does it enter? It enters into the meaning it expresses. Why does it enter? It enters in order to understand the meaning expressed, and in the way that the short A enters as the life force. How does it enter? It enters in the way that the aggregates of speech of worldly and transworldly beings, such as names, sentences, and verses, are accomplished by relying on such entry. This is the provisional meaning. Second, the definitive meaning is: What enters? The symbolic meanings of vowels and consonants, the root and branch winds. Where does it enter? It enters into the definitive meaning short A, the indestructible bindu. Why does it need to enter? For the sake of the meaning of

It is to guide the clear light. How does it enter? It is to explain that it enters through the stages of dissolution, such as earth dissolving into water. The Buddhas, the Bhagavat, also arise from the A-short of the definitive meaning of the ground and path. As it says in the "Praise of Names": "A is the best of all letters, it is a great and sacred letter." From there, "It is the best cause of all speech, it makes all words very clear." And in the "Compendium of Practice" it also says: "Thus, all the Tathagatas have become of the lineage of A, A has become the cause, and they necessarily arise from A." Therefore, in the "Vajra Heart Ornament" it says: "In the center of the heart is the indestructible." Etc., the previously quoted scripture also indicates that the A-short of definitive meaning is the indestructible wind in the heart. Because, A is the main and sacred one. The indestructible subtle wind is the indestructible that is of the same kind and never ceases, and the indestructible bindu shifts at the time of death. In other texts, the meaning of the mantra that appears as "ཨ་ཀཱ་རོ་མུ་ཁཾ་སརྦ་དྷརྨཱཿ(Tibetan, Devanagari: अकारोमुखंसर्वधर्माः, Romanized Sanskrit: akāro mukhaṃ sarva dharmāḥ, Literal meaning: A is the door of all dharmas)" etc., is: A is unborn, therefore it is the door of all dharmas. In the "Compendium of Practice" it is also based on this. Its definitive meaning is that, in general, it is the wisdom that realizes the unborn nature of conditioned phenomena, and here, through the power of meditation, all winds dissolve into the indestructible subtle wind, so that the emptiness that is naturally unborn and the co-emergent wisdom that realizes it become of the same taste, and the essence becomes inseparable. This is the door through which all the special qualities of the Buddha's teachings and the union body arise. The meaning of the scripture of the "Praise of Names" is also like that. The A-short subtle wind of definitive meaning is the basis for the arising of clear light, therefore it is the best of letters. For this reason, it is meaningful and sacred. Although it arises from within the body, it is unborn in ultimate truth, and it is the causelessness of speech. However, the two lines, "It is the best cause of all speech, it makes all words very clear," etc., explain that from the indestructible wind of the A-short of definitive meaning, some winds transform into the nature of vowels and consonants, and when they reach the throat, they can speak clearly. Therefore, the direct A-short is also shown as the root of all other speech.
